Above is a detail selected from the art for my short story in Weird Horror Tales.
The first reviews are coming in on the book:
“Among my favorite [stories],” wrote Tim Walters, “is ‘Wishful Thinking’, which opens, appropriately, on Halloween night and focuses on the frightening legend of Sara Lagle, also known as the Witch of Light's End. "Fall Guy" is about the day Light's End was visited by the Amazing Man who jumps off buildings. The tale effectively uses comic book imagery and allusions, which is not surprising since Michael Vance has a longstanding connection with and affection for the comics medium. At times Vance's wistful, evocative style is reminiscent of Ray Bradbury's fiction, while the often horrific nature of the series recalls the work of writers like H.P. Lovecraft and Robert Bloch. Michael Vance is a talented and underrated wordsmith... Tim Walters
“Each of the Light’s End stories is a snapshot of this strange town, ranging in time from its founding, through our time, and into the future. I’d classify them as speculative fiction with a touch of horror and an occasional touch of science fiction.”
“Seriously,” opines Greg Mitchell, “I thought the stories were really classy. Do you have any more Light's End stories? It's an incredible world and I'd love to read more!”
Daniel Weaver recently wrote: “You create a vivid scene that transplants the reader into a very specific time and place. There are plenty of unsettling images (bones, the monster, etc) as well as concepts (human sacrifice, cannibalism, etc). Allowing your main character to be partially swallowed by such a horrific creation certainly projects horrific imagery. As always, your word choices paint vivid pictures and bring to life unique characters. “

Maleta Stories
Marissa Largo - Toronto, Canada
Magkaisa Centre - Toronto, Canada
Installation, Visual Art
With the Centre for International Experience as its backdrop, a projected stop-motion animation of a woman kneeling before a closed suitcase, or maleta, is seen. Slowly, the maleta begins to unzip itself by a force still unknown. What emerges, wrapped in Filipino newspapers, is the embodiment of the histories and narratives of people who have come to this land. Facilitated by the Magkaisa Centre, participants are invited to share their "maleta stories" of how they came to be in Canada on baggage tags, which then become apart of the web-like installation affixed to the British colonial architecture of the Cumberland House, constructing a collective family tree of migration. A gallery of community-based artworks created by members of the Magkaisa Centre resides inside.

It looks like Spotz is telling Mr. Mistofflelees some long tail about the biggest mouse she ever caught. I think she got the idea after hearing all the hunting stories the past couple weeks.
These guys are rarly seen being nice together but they seem to be cozy up on top of the cupboards in the laundry room right across from the gas heater. Probably the warmest spot in the house. Since they liked it so much I gave them some sleeping options up there. No they are not spoiled. They own me. There's a difference I think.
Read Across America is not just a celebration for schools, it's a nationwide celebration that touches every community. From daycare centers to libraries and recreation centers, everyone is joining in on the fun!
At one daycare, our littlest learners are spent the day exploring the pages of their favorite books and discovering new stories to share with their friends.
Meanwhile, at a local library, families gathered to participate in a special story time, reading challenges, and games. Libraries have been decorated with colorful banners and posters, inviting readers of all ages to come in and explore the endless possibilities of reading.
And over at the recreation center, kids are taking a break from sports and games to join in on the fun. The center has set up reading corners, book swaps, and encouraging kids to explore new stories and have fun while doing it.
No matter where you go in our community today, the joy of reading is in the air. As we celebrate Read Across America, we're reminded of the power of books to inspire, educate, and connect us all. So let's pick up a book, share a story, and celebrate the magic of reading together!

This tiny baby hammie boy (about 3 weeks old) in the most incredible way appeared at our house yesterday night... (full story coming soon)
We cannot keep him. 3 hamsters would be a bit too much... and also, he is a boy, while Chmurka & Szarotka are girls - not too good...
Anyway - we are LOOKING FOR SOMEBODY TO TAKE HIM HOME AND TAKE CARE OF HIM. Obviously, this kind person should be from Warsaw, or any place that it would be quite easy to travel to / from.
If you are interested - or know somebody who might be - PLEASE CONTACT me via Flickr mail.
He is just too cute and it will break my heart to give him away. But I cannot keep him... :(
I really must stop playing with stock and get back to some good old fashioned photography! Why do I feel so guilty for using stock?
Sorry the booklife is so small, I couldn't get it bigger given the composition.

A Little-Known Story about a Movement, a Magazine, and the Computer’s Arrival in Art
New Tendencies and Bit International, 1961–1973
Edited by Margit Rosen
This book documents a short but intense artistic experiment that took place in Yugoslavia fifty years ago but has been influential far beyond that time and place: the "little-known story" of the advent of computers in art...

West side Story was performed by the Creighton University Department of Fine and Performing Arts in 2009. A special benefit performance was held for well-known local stage manager Lara Marsh, who needed a double-lung transplant.
