This is my shot of the homestead focused in on the second story. I thought the method of setting the floor beams into notches in the lower log was to keep the beams in alignment was interesting. You should know that solid lumber is not terribly great as "R" resistance to heat transfer. That is why some builders try to build without through-wall studs. I assume the floor is tied into the end walls of the structure somehow. I should have looked. A second floor helped retain heat during the winters. They were used for sleeping lofts. I don't know if I could stand the dark, closed-in look. The small panes of glass for windows were packed across the prairie in the wagons, along with the craftsman planes. Certain skill-sets would have been requisite for the settlers. What an endeavor for the pioneers! Nothing went to waste.

Once past the museum building, we made a beeline for the 1860 section of the farm and were delighted by truly authentic early structures. I marveled at the structure of the chimney, wondering how it could hold up over the decades. Oscar the cat was on mouse patrol, earning his keep. Eddie was in a rush to get to Doudy before sunup, the bike track by 10:00 and the Littleton Farm Museum after that. The museum was a place that I never heard about before found it to be an excellent experience. We kept expecting good skies but only those shots aimed properly could take advantage of any opening in the clouds. The rest were in flat light. This was major work to dig out this angle. Lighting is everything and needed to pop up pictures. I admired the daisy sculpture outside but marveled at the farm exhibits.

This museum is free and the one place you must take the kiddies. They were concerned about Eddie's camera and didn't want us shooting indoor or commercial shots. They would only be so lucky if they had Eddie to do their shooting for them! Oh well rentless onward. This is a treasure trove of old agricultural exhibits and far better than others I've encountered. Plenty to keep the young occupied as we discovered them bouncing from exhibit to exhibit. This is outside, before we got in!

I waited and shot and waited for the skies to start clearing; they didn't. I know what you are thinking; enough skies already! All kinds of skies are great though. This one is barely worth it.

I saw this on the N-Train to Brooklyn. It’s the picture along with my new Subway Story:

Some of the paintings that you see behind these trucks manage to convey and entire story. They also have these profound saying written on the back along with a name which mostly happens to be the owners'.

This one was no exception.

Another of the 'Walking Around' series, telling some stories with my automotive art and hot rod designs... Here's the aft-end of that kustom Merc, making a late-night call to the lady the car's owner is seeing on the sly. Just having fun, and placing the cars in some unique situations to play with atmosphere and lighting.

EXCISION is the story of Pauline (AnnaLynne McCord), a delusional teenage outcast. Pauline picks scabs. Pauline dissects road kill. Pauline fantasizes about performing surgery on strangers. Her fascinations disturb her schoolmates and her parents, Phyllis (Traci Lords) and Bob (Roger Bart). No one understands Pauline except for Grace (Ariel Winter), her younger sister who suffers from cystic fibrosis. An outcast at school and at home, Pauline is convinced that the best way to repair her estranged relationship with her family is to perform a risky operation to save her sister’s life...

Starring AnnaLynne McCord (“90210”) as Pauline, EXCISION continues a long tradition of horror films with compelling female leads, such as Scream, the original Halloween, the original A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Birds, and Psycho. The film also stars Traci Lords (Cry Baby, Blade), Ariel Winter (“Modern Family”), Roger Bart (“Desperate Housewives”), Jeremy Sumpter (Friday Night Lights, Soul Surfer), Malcolm McDowell and John Waters.

EXCISION is Richard Bates, Jr.’s directorial debut adapted from his highly praised short film, Excision, which played in over 50 film festivals internationally and garnered 24 awards from festivals such as Austin Fantastic Fest, Honolulu International Film Festival and the Washington DC Independent Film Festival.

Imagine a story about this ...

Other story (by you) in this set

I was commissioned to do 30 watercolour pieces for an artshow in Singapore with a very peculiar topic: Stories from the Bible.

This project was very fun to do, because I had to research a lot on art history, religious representation and of course the biblicat text itself.

I'm not christian or catholic, so the main challenge for me was to show the depth of the stories in a powerful, innovative and respectul way.

This is my version of Nebuchadnezar's dream.

I hope you like it.

This week's theme for 52 week of 2011 was "love". Once again, I kind of struggled as I didn't really want to take a picture of any Valentine's Day paraphernalia. Was going to go to the Met and take a photo of Aphrodite or something, but I tend to be dissatisfied of my photos of other people's art except in special circumstances. I decided to fall back on the idea of love stories. Books are, after all, one of my great loves and each of the books in this stack feature love in a small - or large - way. The books in this stack are: Dombey and Sons (familial love), The Scarlet Letter (forbidden love), North and South (more traditional love), Oedipus Rex (mother love, yuck), and, one of my personal favorites, the complete, leatherbound Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (unrequited love - except in the movie, which I shall never speak of again).

Donald Margulies’ drama uses the story of Ruth Steiner, a flash-in-the-pan writer in her declining years, and her rising protégé, Lisa Morrison, to examine issues of artistic integrity, as well as the realities of life as an artist, over a six-year span. Lisa begins as an insecure student, blossoms into a successful short-story writer and then writes a novel based on Ruth’s affair with real-world poet Delmore Schwartz.

Together, they struggle with the moral dilemma of whether the events of one person’s life are fair game for use in another person’s art.

The cast consists of Bates junior Elizabeth Danello of Washington, D.C., as Lisa and Mary Meserve, Bates College registrar, as Ruth. Katalin Vecsey, senior lecturer and vocal director for theater productions at Bates, is the director.

National Park Ranger begins his history story at the entrance.
