Hands up those who do not like to play! I was mad about the game Brain Training. But a few days ago I left my favorite console in the drawer because something else intrigued me. I am talking about STM32 Primer (the game received at the Seminar Silverstar NEWS2008-ST). Until the batteries have charged I was very impatient and curious at the same time. It is an easy-to-use game, thanks to the MEMS (micro electro-mechanical systems).

An important part of the IDE is the isystem.connect interface. It allows the IDE to be driven by an external application, which can actively steer it or just acquire data from the target.

This could be an Excel script filling a table of temperature readouts over time, a production stage application which programs the microcontroller FLASH and verifies RAM, application which, through data acquisition, realizes unit test, a hardware-in-the-loop system test, etc.

‘Adapters’ for several industry standard protocols like GDB, OLE Automation and XCP are built on top of the isystem.connect interface and are shipped alongside the IDE.

New mbed enabled STM32 board. Can be programmed with the online mbed IDE. In addition to all the other good things that come with all mbed boards this offers an Arduino shield compatible interface. Despite my not using Arduinos whenever possible I do have some Arduino shields and these can now be used with a "real" controller board for rapid prototyping.

Majority of our products are based on providing a link between an embedded system and the host PC. Depending on the target CPU architecture this can be an in-circuit emulator, an on-chip debugger, on-chip trace tool or external bus analyzer. A modular approach allows reuse of the tool in another configuration. Our tools support 50 different CPU architectures, 2000+ microcontrollers, 150 compilers…
