The Pursuits originally had "suicide levers" and stem shifters. We kept the stem shifters because they're easier for someone to get used to than down-tube shifters, especially in city riding, and because we didn't have any bar-end shifters. The auxiliary brake levers though are gone, gone, gone.

Ever noticed foamy substances at the base of young leave stems on garden shrubs, grassy areas, pastures or areas with broadleaf weeds at the end of spring? The foam akin to spit with the consistency of mucus is made by spittlebugs, harmless to human unless they are present in high concentrations to affect the aesthetic of gardens or crop yield. At this time in Kingston, spittlebug nymphs have hatched from eggs laid last fall and have immediately begun to feed from their host plants. While feeding, the extremely vulnerable nymphs are producing a frothy spittle mass in which they hide for predatorial protection and to keep moist. In this album, an image of an entire foam mass, perhaps housing a few individuals is shown is followed by closeups of a pair of nymphs, 1-2 mm in length, facing each other and thereafter slightly larger nymphs 3-4 mm in length are presented. The nymphs take 5 to 8 weeks to mature to adult insects. Upon looking pass the somewhat repulsive spit-like mass, one can discover the cuteness of its hidden lemon-green residents.
