In celebration of Women's History month and Pi Day, SUNY Old Westbury hosted Experiences of Women in STEM with panelists: Dr. Shahedipour-Sandvik, SUNY Senior Vice Chancellor, Professor Madondo, Senior Education Specialist, South Africa and two Old Westbury undergraduate students Fatima Bhali and Dominique Crecco.

Eric Nguyen's sketch of a Carbon Garden stem. The red lines are the bent-steel tubing. The black ones are a thin material (copper piping? steel wire?) bent around and welded/brazed together to make more intricate, organic shapes around the fixed-diameter stem. The thin material can also be bent into leaf-shapes and can continue up the undersides of the petals.
The Utah State Office of Education hosted the second annual of the Healthy STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) 5K Run and STEM fair on May 31 at the University of Utah's Presidents Circle. Sponsors of the event included the Center for Science and Mathematics Education at the University of Utah, PEAK Health and Fitness and SelectHealth. Proceeds from the race will go to support Utah’s National MESA Team to attend the national competition in June.
