Nearly 100 teams took part in the 2019 Human Exploration Rover Challenge, held April 12-13 at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The competition, hosted by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, challenges high school and college teams to design, build and test human-powered roving vehicles inspired by the Apollo lunar missions and future exploration missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond. This year’s competition marked 25 years since the inaugural event.

Arachnophobe or Fan? The STEM Spiders Science workshop for High School students was held on Dec. 1, 2012.
Students learned about various myths, facts and folklore of spiders. They collected spiders around campus and using a microscope identified the spiders and calculated the diversity indices.
Elementary teachers learn how they can teach concepts related to sound and waves. The K-5 STEM project is a three year project that includes 67 elementary teachers and is led by scientists, mathematicians and educators from UW Oshkosh.

Ursuline celebrated STEM Day on Wednesday, March 24. Hands-on experiments taught students about science, technology, engineering, and math in creative ways.
Andrew Kim (Comal ISD), Rene Sanchez (Houston ISD), Nyssa Arcos Evans (East Austin College Prep), Scott Lipton (Globaloria) and student Michael Alvarez (East Austin College Prep) presented at TCEA 2015 and talked about how it is important to teach students CS-STEM skills and how one of the best ways of engaging students in CS-STEM is through games and game-design.

Two STEM Expos were held in October 2015 for the K-12 students of Galena Park and Pasadena, Texas, through partnership with Communities In Schools. The events were supported by funding from an American Chemical Society grant.
