Duo Tone moonlit image taken at Bow Fiddle Rock. This one was purely a test shot when I first arrived on the evening of my star trail. Converted to B & W in Lightroom then given some duo tone treatment for a unique effect.
In the beautiful panoramic night sky of Arches National Park, Utah, the Milky Way arcs over Turret Arch, through which the opening of North Window Arch can be seen.
the very few times I set out and get the results I seek.. This is exactly what I wanted. The Mesquite Flat Dunes in Death Valley at night and a meteor . New moon night no foot prints, just texture.
The sun was unusual that day, most likely a natural filter was created as a result of the suspension of dust from the Sahara. The clear but dull sun was visible without any glare, which allowed me to do a handheld shot at 300mm MFT using an x2 electronic teleconverter (FF 1200mm). The whole thing took a few minutes, a quick decision, I opened the balcony door, stabilized my position and here's the effect. Even sunspots are visible under magnification.
The days never get any easier
but my dreams sure do.
I am thinking of my next 10
days!!!
I'm heading to California
Looking up at the night sky while on a mountain top in Yosemite, I see the depth of outer-space. The milky way has always made me pause, a sort of "stop and smell the coffee" moment. The night sky holds many truths and much beauty.
This was not the first star tonight. :)
After shooting in Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness the prior evening Wayne and I decided to head over to Shiprock and do some scouting during the day to prep for the evenings shoot.
The route to the back of the formation is a maze of criss crossing dirt roads that really needs to be Tracked with GPS during the day so that you can easily find your way back in during the wee hours of the morning. We found a couple of ideal compositional locations and marked them on the GPS as well.
Later at 1:00am Sandra Herber and Chris Wray joined us and we also met up with Wenjie, Willa and Huibo. We all stood there timing one another's shots so that the light from a camera's display didn't spoil the other's capture, it in essence is synchronized shooting which is necessary when you have several photographers shooting the same scene. This photo was originally intended to be used just for the foreground but after I processed the foreground the sky looked really interesting with the Milky Way laying subtly behind the startrails which are slightly overexposed creating an interesting sense of speed to the scene. No additional lighting was added to this scene. It is lit by starlight and ambient light hence the name Starlight/Starbright
Hope you like it, if you do please mark it as a fav or by all means leave a comment.
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week ahead my friends :)
when I hit the sand..its not for fun in the sun. getting my night moves on! Death Valley on a moonless night.
A trip to this place is just around the corner for me, It feels the same every-time I go!

From inside Double Arch in Arches National Park, the Milky Way seems to rise as a beam of light from the distant horizon.
One of my favorite places - Sylvan Lake, South Dakota.

The Colorado River flows through the last several miles in Colorado and the first few miles in Utah in Ruby Canyon.
To the east, the lights of Grand Junction and Fruita lighten the horizon.
This composite of 15 star shots and 5 land shots was taken just before the freight train rumbled through, laboring uphill, but more importantly, lighting up various canyon walls. That series of photos produced the composite that immediately precedes this post. So you can compare the canyon lit only by starlight (this one) with the canyon lit by starlight and an engine's headlamp
(previous post).

an almost hdr shot of three exposures, one for the tent, one for the trees and one for the milkyway. Wind of course messed up everything.
I tried astrophotography, with both weather and light pollution not at their best. The result…a mysterious sky.
While cresent moon is rising, light and shadow transform the dusty hills at Simos beach.

Durdle Door, on the Jurassic coast lit up for the International Year of Light.
One of several sites across the UK being used for this event. Milkway shining in the background, as the lights cast across the Jurassic coastline and this iconic location.

A repost of a sixteen shot panorama with some stitching exposure issues fixed. It is of the milky way over the Warrumbungles. The area has little light pollution to disturb astronomical viewing and is home to the Siding Spring observatory which is has more than a $100 million in scientific equipment including 44 telescopes. The largest is the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT), a 3.9-metre equatorially mounted telescope, sits at an altitude of a little over 1,100 m and was ranked in 2009 as the fifth highest-impact of the world's optical telescopes.
