Not long until I'm back in Iceland - standing in awe of beautiful mountains, the rain and wind battering at me!

Carolina wren, one of my favorite birds. This one is around quite a bit and this time he knows I'm there. Their antics are comical at times .. : )

It sensed me taking its photo then followed me with it's gaze as I walked along the road until the end of the field.

Staring Contest - While hiking a few years ago, I noticed a gang of deer walking in a tight-knit group, as if running after something. Then I noticed a Bobcat flit through the grass before bounding up a small dead oak.

I've observed 2 previous interactions of deer treeing Bobcats, and one interaction of this particular Bobcat mock-charging a deer to keep her away from her subadult kitten.

It's always fascinating to document such unique instances in nature. When I took this shot I took it mostly for fun, but after showing it to friends and family, it grew on me and I decided that I would like to reprocess and re-share it. It shows just how interesting time outdoors can be. I felt like a quiet third person observer here, the proverbial fly on the wall watching a moment where the hunter briefly became the hunted. This is definitely another one of the top 5 Bobcat encounters I've documented.

This barred owl would probably find a mouse or vole more interesting than me.I took this shot a couple of days ago; yesterday was marked by endless torrents of rain. I wonder how this critter dealt with the deluge.
