In addition to the evolving it into the Rascal rover, I have also been reworking the Corsair starfighter itself. I was never 100% pleased with the wings I originally came up with, so thought I would play around with them. Here is a pic of the latest version.

Hope everyone who celebrates has a very Merry Christmas, and finds the sets you were hoping for under the tree!

NoVVember!!!!

I need a quick retro fix, Battlestar/ Buck Rogers/Star Wars. lack of colour was a deliberate choice/experiment; not sure if it works? A lot of 70s starships are just light grey so the shape and detailing has to step up. Maybe not as cool as I hoped it would look but I'm glad I finished it.

This is the Chain Reaction RVR-05, a custom LEGO spacecraft.

There’s a construction video on YouTube covering the complete build process.

The model was inspired by the Thunder Force game series. It’s a new evolution playing with design style from the Thunder Force official “RVR” line-up and a lovely RVR-03 concept by Sparrow S.A.

It comprises 2110 parts without the stand. All elements are from LEGO. Some shiny bits were chromed. I individually tinted the 21 trans-clear parts making up the canopy because I wanted a green.

68 of these elements are the new-for-2025 "plate 1x1 round with bottom clip" (ID 5264). The part is a revelation! It unlocked tight angles in the tail, a new engine design, off-grid placement of facets, and more.

Additional photos for Chain Reaction are at galacticplastics.com. In the future I hope to share a cleaned-up digital model file and parts inventory covering the ship and stand.

The 60/40s performed well in the conflict over Trelinium.

Going for a Gunstar vibe here :)

Another request from my son, to build a spaceship he could then safely* fly about afterwards.

*Safely meaning it won't fall apart easily!

LOWVA Starfighter 'L'. I loova you. Clawdia Rose, fly this baby safely. :D

Here's a new Star Wars starfighter I've been working on for the Teal Squadron collab! It'll be at Bricktastic in Manchester, UK this weekend so if take a look if you're there!

I started by pulling ideas from WWII bombers that inspired some of the original Star Wars designs. Eventually, the design evolved into something close to a Naboo ship, so I leaned into it as a Rebel-repurposed Theed ship with a smooth exterior and missing panels for easier maintenance. Built in collaboration with Chris Perron and Wes Talbot. Check out their sweet ships if you haven't already!

My entry for Tromas's contest. This thing was so much fun to build. Fits a minifig.

This is Astraea!

(I finished this model months ago but have been mega delayed with photos. It’s been a long year…)

Design-wise:

* I was inspired by this sketch (I think originally from しょぼ though now I can’t locate it in their portfolio), which I took my own direction.

* It’s the first time I’ve played with the bar handle on round plate element, which I ended liking a lot.

* The panels surrounding each rear engine unit are angled to flare slightly outward (on the horizontal plane) relative to each thruster. I also enjoyed the geometry between the opposing (top/bottom) cylindrical engine sections. I’ll post a breakdown later.

* I had fun with the geometry for the cockpit. The glass in the opposed sections are held (a) with internal/outward tension at the top and bottom, and (b) with external/inward tension from each side.

* As a first for me, I used physical and digital design in tandem from the start. The process worked well for me; I find I still need physical parts to explore connection, but it opened possibilities to ‘run fast’ with digital.

I’ll post the digital design file and some breakdowns when I find space.

This take on the N-1 was inspired by the wonderful little LEGO ships built by Waffles (his A-wing) and Inthert (his N-1 and Air Drifter). Both builders used the Ducati windshield to great effect.

This was originally going to be silver like Din’s ship as it appears on screen, but I couldn’t find an aesthetically pleasing solution to hide the Red of that windscreen element. So I embraced the red colour scheme!

I used the N-1 as it appears in the Book of Boba Fett as a reference but going Red meant I could take some liberties with the design.

I built this model from scratch but I kept going back to Inthert’s version of the N-1 for pointers as it is in my mind, the definitive LEGO version of the ship. His design influence is clear in the nose and tail of my model.

Last photos of my Brickworld builds (I think...). The "Corsair" was the result of me messing around with my prior "tomahawk" small starfighter build and seeing if I could make something better out of it... It's probably better, but I'm still 'meh' about it. I do like the SNOT work though (the chassis is mostly built studs-down, using the old finger-hinge parts to switch studs directions on the tail).. I'll probably hack it apart again, and make it into a sky-fi plane or something... anyways, enjoy it while it lasts...

At the BC Aviation Museum at Victoria's Airport. I believe the restoration by the dedicated volunteers is complete. She looks great. This particular aircraft was produced in 1962 and based at RCAF Cold Lake, Alberta. It was removed from service in 1983 and was donated to the museum in 2023. The iconic Starfighter was the first aircraft to simultaneously hold world records for speed, altitude, and time-to-climb. A beautiful aircraft and so pleasing to the eyes.

Finally got a chance to build it in real bricks! Am super glad the wings actually managed to hold together. Next step will be to refine the design a bit.

A bulky starfighter designed with heavy firepower in mind. The horus comes equipped with two dual laser repeaters and dual ion cannons.

Engines inspired by Adiran Florea's Su-85 "яд".

More starfighter! This one is a bit bigger than my last few. Looks like it's going to be another summer of me building starfighters; they're already starting to line up on my desk.

The first A-108 were commissioned more than forty years ago. Designed for the Colonial Navy as a heavy multi-role assault craft, the Harvester can engage capital ships in space as well as ground targets on planets. It is equipped with a medium blaster and a gimbaled double barrel rail gun to crack through any armour. A torpedo launcher bay and loadout hardpoints under the fuselage complete the offensive means. The independent thrust vectoring twin engines provide atypical maneouverability for this class of starfighters, enabling the A-108 to incorporate a mix of inertial gliding and vectored flight in their attack runs.

While fortunately no wars were raging for the last thirty years, the repeated deployment of A-108 squadrons to suppress secession endeavours of certain colonies has sparked a debate about the use and necessity of this type of offensive craft in peace times.

My entry for the Space Jam Starfighter Contest

I built this coming from the idea of incorporating massive swiveling thrusters at the back and the canopy pieces in the front. Everything in between just happened. My biggest and sturdiest build to date, the Harvester has a rigid Technic skeleton inside. The weight and leverage of the engines proved to be quite challenging for the kinematics and required locked turntables and rotation joints to support the forces.

The play features are:

- mountable drop pod with folded probe drone inside

- two fully poseable thrust vectoring engines

- wide angle 3D-swiveling double barrel rail gun

- retractable landing gear

- full-featured cockpit

Since this creation was well recieved I decided to do some minor rework and try my hands on some stickers.

This is my first entry in the Brickset Star Wars 'What's Missing?' building contest.

one of my very favorite ship as a kid (and as an adult too).

Proudly stealing Pascal cockpit design :)

SPOILER ALERT!!!

This starfighter is NOT in the upcoming Star Wars movie. It is my entry into the 2017 FBTB Star Wars X Building Contest. The wings are shaped like the Star Wars Aurebesh glyph for "Onith" (it's the character that I made a custom sticker of and placed next to the cockpit). I took that inspiration and instead of going entirely literal, I merged it into a hybrid between a Y-wing and an A-wing.

And a shout-out to Jake RF who inspired me to enter this contest. Otherwise, I would have sat this one out on the sidelines.
