Hello my friends. I know! I know! it has been a long time but I have not forgotten you. In fact, I missed you! So as the year comes to an end, I thought I would drop by and say hello to you all and see what you have been up to.
As for me, I have recently come back from a trip to Japan. So here is one of the pictures I took there.
An Indian pond heron (ardeola grayii) standing still, which it did for some time, near marshy land in Khao Lak, Phang Nga, Thailand.
When I saw this reflection in the water I had to capture it. It was interesting that this tree did not really stand out that much when looking straight at it, but the reflection of it was very impressive.
A Great Blue Heron in the Timber Wolf Ponds, part of the Genesee Recreation Area of the Genesee County Parks.
Our Eastern Bluebirds have a second brood. YEAH! Bill here is standing guard over the box. He has been so busy bringing food to his mate Fran as she is on the eggs. Hopefully I will see the youngsters this time. My backyard.
I took the day off yesterday because I was feeling sick. Back today, but I have to go out to take more photos. Maybe I will stalk the cats or go down the hill to take photos of a humongous eucalyptus.

I only discovered this one (two) while looking at another mushroom. These guys were under a large Bigleaf Maple leaf. Small mushrooms, like these, are my favorite to capture. Single image without a Circular Polarizing filter due to the lighting conditions.
The little one was standing very close to its mom and the other two were very curious They were able to look but not too close
Photographed through the kitchen window. When I was sitting outside all set up none of the birds came. Have fastened a branch onto our feeder just waiting for a bird to land on it. Bet it is like the Kit Kat advert with the pandas. Turn your back and they will come.
Every afternoon when the Kookaburra family come visiting, there's standing room only at my garden table.
The image captures a tranquil island, standing as a quiet guardian of time and space, surrounded by the still embrace of calm waters. The reflection in the lake blurs the boundary between reality and illusion, reminding us that what we perceive is often shaped by the stillness within us. The warm glow of sunlight graces the trees, symbolizing the fleeting yet beautiful transitions of life, while the sky, adorned with delicate, flowing clouds, mirrors the gentle passage of time.
Framed by the silhouettes of bare branches, the scene speaks to the cyclical nature of existence – moments of fullness and moments of quiet emptiness. This image is a meditation on solitude, connection, and the silent reflections that shape our understanding of the world around us.
Really pleased to find out that one of my images was chosen as the runner up in the Your View category of the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2018 competition. The image chosen was one I genuinely had high hopes for.
Thank you to all the judges and well done to all the others who had success this year

Standing In Snow
The Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) is a long-legged predatory wading bird of the heron family, Ardeidae. A bird of wetland areas, it can be seen around lakes, rivers, ponds, marshes and on the sea coast.
The Grey Heron is an example of a piscivore. This large bird hunts for its prey in both freshwater and saltwater. It waits patiently, standing on one leg in the shallow water, waiting for a fish to come into range. When it does, the Grey Heron quickly strikes, stabbing the fish with its strong, pointy beak!
These powerful beaks also come in handy when other animals are near; Grey Herons will eat small birds, amphibians, and small mammals that live near water. Scientists think Grey Herons are most successful at hunting at night, using moonlight to help them find food.
This beautiful Grey Heron was captured during a photography safari on an early morning boat ride on Lake Baringo, Kenya.
