I remember looking into this field of flowers and seeing this one white wildflower among the black-eyed Susan's. I thought it would make a very good subject for a picture because of how it created some contrast.
My friend Dennis spotted the one in the tree and as we were passing by I told him to let me out. There was no place to safely pull off so he had to keep going and turn around. By the time he got back this was over. I got a series of 13 shots of these two before the intruder went off to higher ground.

A 5ª. edição da Expocatólica, realizada de 16 a 19 de agosto, no Pavilhão Amarelo do Expocenter Norte, em São Paulo, bateu recorde de público. Passaram pela feira 34.000 visitantes durante os quatro dias do evento, dentre presbíteros e o público leigo, que puderam conhecer as últimas inovações do segmento católico.
O sucesso de visitação deve-se ao fato da feira ter se tornado conhecida de seu público-alvo, e também, a novas ações de marketing, como por exemplo a divulgação de comerciais para o público leigo na TV Cultura, além das mídias parceiras tradicionais, como a Rede Vida, Canção Nova e a TV Aparecida. O resultado foi expressivo e, comparando com os números da edição anterior, houve um crescimento três vezes maior na visitação profissional (religiosos e sacerdotes) e também entre compradores do atacado (livreiros e lojistas).
Segundo Fábio Castro, um dos diretores da PROMOCAT, empresa responsável pela ExopCatólica, o aumento no volume de visitantes era esperado, mas não se imaginava tanto. “De fato, a visitação conquistada na feira nos surpreendeu positivamente, apesar de esperar um aumento de público. Em relação a isso, nossa expectativa foi superada em 30%."
A outra boa notícia que acompanha esse recorde de público diz respeito ao volume de alimentos doados pelos visitantes. Ao todo foram arrecadadas seis toneladas de alimentos, que serão revertidos para instituições de caridade.
A ExpoCatólica reuniu cerca de 150 expositores e os principais produtos e serviços voltados para o maior segmento religioso do país. Os expositores trouxeram para o Pavilhão Amarelo do ExpoCenter Norte camisetas com motivos religiosos, quadros e esculturas, jóias, muitos livros, artigos de decoração, velas para liturgia e aromáticas, dentre outras novidades.
Nesta 5º edição, religiosos das mais diversas instituições, prestigiaram especialmente a Expo Vocacional - espaço que reuniu 42 congregações, dentre a diversidade existente na igreja, destinado a jovens seminaristas, visitantes religiosos e leigos.
Outro fato marcante foi o debate sobre o documento referente à 5º Conferência Geral Latino Americana e Caribe – CELAM na ExpoCatólica, com as presenças de Dom Odilo Pedro Scherer, Arcebispo Metropolitano da Arquidiocese de São Paulo, vereador Carlos Francisco Signorelli, Karl Josef Rommer, da comissão de elaboração do Léxicon, enviado especial do Vaticano para o evento.
O CONAGE – Congresso Nacional de Gestão Eclesial - reuniu cinco ciclos de palestras, cujos temas versaram sobre Liderança e Gestão de pessoas, Estratégia de Planejamento Pastoral, Contabilidade e Controle de Custos, Administração Eclesial, Dízimo e Captação de Recursos, com os principais nomes do meio, que falaram a respeito de temas pertinentes ao cotidiano eclesial.

My sister had asked my mom many years ago if she could have an old
purple glass cake stand that we'd grown up with, and my mom had decided
not to pass it on until she'd passed on herself.
I sent my sister another one I'd found (yay, eBay) for her birthday
maybe ten years ago... it wasn't the one she'd seen her own birthday
cakes on as a kid, but I hoped it would be a good stand-in until she
could have the real one.
Well, now it's a year after my mom's passing, and when Amanda was in
California packing up some other things, she came across the fondly
remembered item. Trouble is, she already had one, and honestly, how many
purple glass pedestal cake stands does one really need? So she very
carefully packaged it and sent it to me. I offered to swap with hers,
and she said she now liked the new one (along with its story) and wanted
