Zhao Yuxiang, six, doesn’t talk. He expresses himself through shouts, excited laughter and tears. He came to the school because his mother wanted to learn to communicate with him. The Stars and Rain Education Institute for Autism in Beijing is the first non-governmental educational organization in China that helps autistic children and their families. Since 1993, more than 3,000 families across China have been through an 11-week intensive programme that teaches parents and their autistic children to live with autism through behaviour analysis methods and a strong support network. The course costs 3,800 RMB and benefits around 320 families every year. Its founder, Tian Huiping, started the school to help other parents like herself. Her only son is mentally retarded.The school currently caters to children between the ages of three and 12. It is planning to expand its service for autistic teenagers.
Jake's Fruit and Vegetable Stand has been a 'fixture' along Route 1 on the Madison/Guilford Town Line for 26+ years. Jake, and his father before him, started out selling vegetables from an old green Ford pick-up truck, and now he has a larger, yet old, van-style truck in order to carry more farm-grown vegetables.
Jake's day starts at 4:00 a.m. when he begins picking corn from his family property in anticipation of the day's business. He then makes the 'rounds' and travels to various family-owned properties in various areas of Connecticut and hand picks cherries, tomatoes, peppers, squash, among a variety of other vegetables. This year, Jake's family has 1900 tomato plants that they harvest from.
Jake's business has grown so much that now he has his daughters Becca, and Emma, on site to assist him with customer service. Here, Jake poses holding an ear of corn from his family farm, corn that he guarantees is the best-tasting corn in the State of Connecticut. He asked me to pose while holding some of his cherished tomatoes...tomatoes that he insists will "melt in your mouth."
This stand inside the shopping center sells "stroopwafels", thin waffles filled with syrup, a typically Dutch delicacy.
I searched and even asked on Facebook where I could find a treehouse or a structure in a tree. Finally, one of the guys at church said he knew of a deer stand near his property. So after church today, we went in his 4-wheel drive pick up truck down a one lane gravel road to a locked gate. So I got out of the truck and stood near the fence in a light rain to get a photo of the very nice looking deer stand.
For those that don't know about deer hunting, hunter will either build a platform in a tree or buy a frees standing structure to "wait" in for a deer to cross come into the clearing. Thanks Larry for this shot!

This same family has had a veggie stand on the same corner for at least 30 years. I am getting the look from lady in the stand, I am getting more used to that.
This stand was created to be used in my van to hold my bicycle upright. Attached to a 20"x36" x1" flat board are a plastic bike stand and 18" pipe & flange. After the front wheel is placed in the rack, the crank arm is rotated until it locks on to the pipe. When used in the van, rope ratchets connect the bike to hard points in the van to stablized the whole unit.. Flat boards with "L' braces could be used instead of the plastic bike stand to hold the front wheel.
