This one was extraorinary big, I didn't even need an additional lens for this handheld 2:1 Macro.
This sort of cuckoo wasps are a parasite to wasps of trypoxylon species, see here.
They put one (or more) eggs into the nest of their host. The larvae then feed on the the food provided by the trypoxylon wasp (mostly small paralyzed spiders).

It has been a while since I've stacked images of a fire sky. This image stacks 17 x 40s interval per frame and then lightened in Photoshop.

Stacks of wood sit on the edge of a ridge waiting be be made into flooring, cabinets, and other household items. The early morning light gives the stacks a golden hue.
First visit to Chemical Beach with my friend steveniceton.co.uk. The tide was much too high to capture the Iron Wheels, so my feet got a good soaking taking this one of the Stack. We had been all set up for a LE from the other side with the groynes leading up to the stack, but when all the cloud action started happening behind us I had to abandon that plan pretty sharpish.

My guesstimate in the moment was that this stack of clouds was about a mile across. I followed its northerly drift for a while, but it was dissipating as I did. In southern Augusta County, Virginia. (Upon further review, I now guesstimate the width of the cloud at 5 miles +/- )
