HaPPy New Year 2022 !

Joyeuses Fetes ...!ü

Bonne Année 2022…)))

"It's impossible to imagine the Swiss mountain world as more idyllic than the area surrounding Lake Bachalpsee. The snow-covered peaks of the Alps are reflected in the crystal clear blue water.

First is the starting point for hikes and it offers action: An adrenaline rush and speed thrills are guaranteed on the First Flyer, trottibike scooters or bikes. Children can have fun on the 700-m² playground at the Bort intermediate station."

Die obere Bergstation heisst ebenfalls First (2'167 m ü.

The Finsteraarhorn (4,274 m (14,022 ft)) is the highest mountain in the Bernese Alps and the highest mountain in the canton of Berne. It is also the highest summit in the Alps lying outside the main chain, or watershed. The Finsteraarhorn is the ninth highest and third most prominent peak in the Alps. Since 2001 the whole massif and surrounding glaciers are part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site.

San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane is the masterpiece of one of the greatest exponents of the Baroque, Borromini, where highly innovative and revolutionary solutions are adopted with a very small space available. And the author performs a true miracle by expanding the space. The structure of the church is all a continuous movement: the facade flexes, concave and convex at the same time. The plan is elliptical but it is also an octagon with bent walls, impossible to define it in a precise geometric figure. The walls seem to stretch in a continuous of ingenious solutions just like the oval dome which is one of a kind. It is a clear example of how genius and creativity don't always need large spaces.

With love and blessings to all at Yule.

Since early Neolithic times, the female reindeer has been worshipped in the North. Unique to other deer species in that female Reindeer grow antlers, they were considered to be the “Life-Giving Mother” the leader of the herds, depended on for survival, milk, food, clothing & shelter.

Across the North, these attributes are part of the mythology and spirituality of the shamanistic peoples who tell a story of how at the winter solstice the Deer Mother Goddess flew through the sky in order to help the dying midwinter sun find its way back and begin the process of the returning light.

All throughout Europe, she was revered as the spiritual figure of Winter Solstice & Yuletide. The symbol of fertility, motherhood, regeneration & rebirth of the Sun, her antlers depicted as the tree of life carrying birds, the Sun, Moon & stars.

If you'd like to know more about the Northern European shamanic Winter Solstice traditions surrounding the Deer Mother and her flying Reindeer (hmmm...sound familiar?) this article is a good introduction: jocelynmercado.com/blog/deer-mother-winter-solstice

Walking through the fields next to the village of Markyate in Hertfordshire, you might come across this. It is part of a memorial for a young woman who had died in 2016. The memorial has been attended to ever since. The place is important to the family. It is not the graveyard but the fields, nature, where you, as I did today, can hear the song of the larks descending. My feeling is that this is intended to be a place where the young woman can still be found. Where she is present, perhaps in the lark's song. Fuji X-100F.

Last night I dreamt again of being in the woods, of sitting down against the trunk of an old oak tree and just being still, as still as possible, until my heartbeat became one with that of the tree, and my toes became roots that plunged deep into the earth to where spirit and flesh and bone became part of the igneous processes. Rebirth, transformation, metamorphosis happen in the depths? In the dark. I have never been one who is content to just hover on the surface of things. The surface isn’t where mountain-building takes place... #confinementjournal #confinementart #rebirth #renewal #mypoetry #hope #healing #mystery #wonder #spirituality

Thank you so much for taking the time to view, fave, comment and invite!

I'm not sure if I believe in prayer or a higher power but I have found myself praying just in case.

These days, I am praying for the refugees who were granted asylum by Biden but are now being deported by Trump.

I am praying for the children who don't feel safe at school. Maybe they have never felt safe at school because of school shooters but now they fear their own government more, even if they were born here. They can't concentrate and learn thinking that they might go home to find they no longer have parents.

I am praying for the people who can no longer pray in their place of worship because there are no safe spaces for them anymore, despite existing in a country who claims to value religion with.a leader they see as the second coming of Christ, even though he bears no remote similarities to him.

I am praying for the people who had the very unlucky circumstance of being born in a country under turmoil, not white, not wealthy, and struggling to survive from the moment they breathed. They find themselves in a country who claims to value life but their life is not valued at all. They are seen as the enemies while Proud Boys go free and wreak havoc.

We don't have to live this way.

The Hōzōmon, also known as the "Treasure-House Gate," is the second of two large entrance gates leading to the Sensō-ji temple in Asakusa, Tokyo. This impressive two-story gate, known as a nijūmon, houses many of the temple's treasures on its second floor. Among these treasures are a copy of the Lotus Sutra, designated as a Japanese National Treasure, and the Issai-kyō, a complete collection of Buddhist scriptures recognized as an Important Cultural Property.

The first floor of the gate features two statues of Niō, the guardians of Buddha, three large lanterns, and two massive straw sandals called waraji. The Niō statues, standing 5.45 meters tall, are positioned on either side of the gate's south face. Due to these statues, the gate was originally named Niōmon before being renamed Hōzōmon.

The gate also includes three large lanterns. The most prominent is a red chōchin lantern hanging in the center of the gate's opening. Measuring 3.75 meters in height, 2.7 meters in diameter, and weighing 400 kg, the lantern displays the name of the town Kobunachō. The current version of the lantern dates back to 2003, when ¥5 million was donated by the residents of Kobunachō to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Edo period. On either side of the chōchin hang two copper Tōrō lanterns, each 2.75 meters tall and weighing approximately 1000 kg.

On the north (back) face of the Hōzōmon are the waraji, two straw sandals measuring 4.5 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, and weighing 400 kg each.

The history of Hōzōmon dates back to 942 AD, when it was first built by Taira no Kinmasa. It was destroyed by fire in 1631 and rebuilt by Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1636. The gate stood for another 300 years until it was destroyed again during the Tokyo air raids of 1945. In 1964, the current steel-reinforced concrete structure was built with a donation of ¥150 million from Yonetarō Motoya. Since the gate was reconstructed using flame-resistant materials, the upper story of the Hōzōmon stores the Sensō-ji's sacred sutras.

The Hōzōmon gate is not only a significant architectural structure but also a symbol of resilience and cultural heritage. It stands 22.7 meters tall, 21 meters wide, and 8 meters deep, making it an imposing and impressive sight. The gate serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Sensō-ji temple and its importance in Japanese history and culture.

In the VIGELANDSPARKEN, there stands The Monolith.

It rests at the highest point in Vigeland Park, and measures 17 meters above ground. The sculpture is carved out of one stone block, hence the name. The stone was originally shot out of the quarry in Iddefjord, Norway, and transported to the park during the late 1920s.

The sculpture depicts 121 human figures clinging and floating together. There's women and men of different ages, and the top of the Monolith is crowned with children. The sculpture has been interpreted as a kind of vision of resurrection, and our longing and striving for spirituality.

The Gergeti Trinity Church, located in Georgia, is situated on a mountain top near the village of Gergeti, near Stepantsminda Kazbegi in the Caucasus region, at an altitude of about 2,170 metres. The first light of dawn in the foreground of the photo enhances the mystical character of the location, while the snow-capped peaks and the dark silhouettes of the church emphasize the dramatic atmosphere of the landscape. This area is popular with hikers and photographers for its breathtaking views and historical value. The impressive snow-capped peaks of Mount Kazbek in the background are illuminated by the golden glow of the rising sun. The Georgian Orthodox church was built in the 14th century and is a beautiful example of medieval Georgian architecture. The church is an important national symbol of Georgia and attracts many pilgrims and tourists every year. Behind the Gergeti Trinity Church lies Kazbek (in Georgian: მყინვარწვერი, Mkinvartsveri), with an altitude of 5,054 meters one of the highest and most famous mountains in Georgia and the Greater Caucasus. Although the mountain is hidden in this photo, Kazbek is known for its impressive presence and mythological significance. Kazbek is an extinct stratovolcano. The name Mkinvartsveri means the Icy Peak in Georgian. The mountain is popular among mountaineers and adventurers. The standard route for the ascent usually starts from Stepantsminda, with the Gergeti Trinity Church serving as the starting point. Kazbek is often covered in snow and ice, which adds to the spectacular and mysterious appearance of the region. On clear days, the summit offers beautiful panoramic views of the Caucasus.

Gergeti Trinity Church is a 14th-century church in Georgia, located at an altitude of 2,170 meters near the village of Gergeti. It is located near Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), overlooking the majestic Mount Kazbek in the Caucasus. The church is an important symbol of Georgia and attracts many pilgrims and tourists. Due to its remote location, it offers spectacular and mystical views of the mountains.

“When our eyes are graced with wonder, the world reveals its wonders to us. There are people who see only dullness in the world and that is because their eyes have already been dulled. So much depends on how we look at things. The quality of our looking determines what we come to see.”

"If you can't be a pine on the top of the hill,

Be a shrub in the valley---but be

The best little shrub at the side of the hill;

Be a bush if you can't be a tree.

We can't all be captains,

We've got to be crew.

There's something for all of us here;

There is big work to do, and there's lesser to do

And the task we must do is the near.

If you can't be a highway, then just be a trail,

If you can't be the sun, be a star;

It isn't the size that you win or you fail

Be the best of whatever you are."
