As Loch Ness has its monster, so does the Otago Harbour. "Ossie" is frequently seen by locals, described as a gigantic mass in the water, emitting a sound very much like "Oooooooooot!" There are those who cynically ascribe these sightings to the comings and goings of German freighters.

When ever you fly in the morning or evening, try book a window seat opposite the sun, and once you’re over the clouds, keep an eye out for the ‘Brocken spectre’ (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brocken_spectre). If the atmospheric conditions are right it will appear directly opposite the sun. I nabbed these shots of the phenomenon on a recent flight from Dublin (DUB/EIDW) to Brussels (BRU/EBBR)
