I happened to talk to a friend last night about a prom and its importance, and today I got to see elegantly dressed boys and girls arriving at The Carillon Park for their prom night. I couldn't help but feel jealous looking at them, because there was nothing of that sort in India. Not at least when I grew up. Not at least where I grew up.
Seriously, childhood memories are all great, but there's got to be at least one significant event at the end of high school to cherish for the rest of your life. I wish I could go back and re-live my childhood, only with a few small modifications. I wouldn't want to change it entirely. After all, everyone's childhood is unique. And so was mine, with wonderful memories.

The scenery is awesome in Canyon de Chelly... per chi non lo sapesse, la pronuncia e' "Sciei (detto all'Italiana :>).
So far I haven't had the chance to take any photo of any wildlife (I met several rabbits and I almost had a huge deer as a figurehead on my car tonight).
But this morning I managed to get a photo of the animal below.
I'd been sitting on this bottle of Oban for more than five years, waiting for an occasion special enough to warrant opening it.
This occasion seems as special as anything that's happened in all that time. I'd have preferred something good to commemorate, but there's a lot Oban can smooth over.
I bought this 1936 Bantam Special in near mint condition in its leather case for $10 at a store that specialized in used cameras. I don't know quite how that happened, the market value was about 20 times that.
This is one of those relatively rare examples of an American camera of the very top tier: no German camera was designed or built better than the Bantam Special, and none had a better lens.

A fine offside view of Stagecoach London 12345 amongst the trees of Weybridge Heath with the vehicle waiting for its scheduled departure time from the bus stop on the remainder of its southbound journey on special circular route 462 from Weybridge town centre and Weybridge station to the Brooklands Museum complex. Route 462 only operates as a free service whenever the London Bus Museum is open to the public.
Based on a 1973 Citroën 2CV6 Spécial, looking a bit like the 2CV Yacco Record car.

The Twister Special was a special edition Mustang Mach 1 produced for Kansas City District dealerships in 1970. Only 96 were made.
An Ashley sports car, one of many fibreglass bodied 'specials' which DIY car enthusiasts could build on to common and readily available chassis and running gear.
The car was seen at a car repairers in SE London, in September 2013. There was a for sale sign in the windscreen which dated it as being from 1961.
A search (here on Flickr) for images of any other Ashley cars produced just one result, which was of a 1962 Ashley 'Sportiva' - which had a roof and was in very smart condition - photographed at a car show. That car had a maroon colour body, and from the scrap of paint behind the red on this one, I'd bet that it was the original colour of this one, too.
Commemorating 150 years of underground railways in London. Its not unusual to see 50p or £2 coins with different designs on the back to commemorate something or other - but you never seem to see the same design again! Perhaps a lot of them get saved by collectors. I think I'd prefer to take a picture and spend the money.
P.S. Its resting on an Ordnance Survey map - as this was a convenient and reasonably neutral flat surface to rest the coin on whilst I was out.
