The space shuttle Endeavor arrived in Los Angeles on Sept 21 and put on a great show. It flew around the city, visting the main landmarks. This shot is the fly-by over LAX. Lots of people, lots of cheering, great fun.

These are the first impressions from the space ship Mirage. coming soon January 2022.

Lewis is fascinated by space and is hooked on ultra violet lights and what can be achieved with a little paint and a fine flick brush. He's learning fast now and its getting harder to fulfil his inquisitive fantasies.

Is questions are professors his visions in thought are for Gods.

Tales from the Trees 3/40

The third in my year long tree inspired series. For the past few years I've been working with HeadsUpGuys, a men's mental health organization. Every year we run a photo campaign to highlight men's experiences with mental health. This February we're sharing a campaign based around self care.

For me, the concept of self care and trees is very perfectly intertwined. When I'm stressed, sad, anxious, frustrated or need to step away from life for a moment, the trees and forests nearby have always helped. They're like emotional sponges, soaking up the worry and the thoughts and leaving me feeling restored and calm. I wanted to create an image that spoke to this idea that trees can be a kind of refuge for our minds, that they can recharge our minds if we spend time amongst them.

Do you find the same, that spending time in nature and in trees relaxes you?

Your budget is too small for a Winnebago, but you want to combine camping and space travel? Try the Land Ro... I mean, Space Rover!

I completed the space people pack set 60230 on Mecabricks.

I just extracted this little scene with the botanist to have a play with lighting and denoising.

Rendered using the Mecabricks online render mode.

Not your standard every day photo, but that is what I liked it about it. Reciepe: Train + Box Cars in Motion + Street Lighting + Color Touch Ups = Space Train. Just simple clean up of "garbage" elements to create one major focal point. This was done in Photoshop. All color adjustments, and lighting were done in LIghtroom. I exported my final image to Photoshop and went crazy with the black paintbrush. I printed this image on my Canon Pixma 9500. Simply gorgeous.

I loved Marchetti36's Space Battleship Yamato so much I decided to build my own copy of his ship and then also built a Dreadnought-class Space Battleship to scale with the Yamato. Huge thanks to Marchetti for the inspiration and wonderful build.

Space Day was created by Lockheed Martin Corporation in 1997. The goal was to motivate the youth of America to study math and science. This day was originally established as a one day event. An exciting topic of interest to millions, Space Day became an annual event.

Why is the image of Cassiopeia changing? Two images of the nearby supernova remnant taken a year apart in infrared light appear to show outward motions at tremendous speeds. This was unexpected since the supernova that created the picturesque nebula was seen 325 years ago. The reason is likely light echoes. Light from the supernova heated up distant ambient dust that is just beginning to show its glow. As time goes by, more distant dust lights up, giving the appearance of outward motion. The above image is a composite of X-ray, optical, and infrared light exposures that have been digitally combined. The infrared light image was taken by the orbiting Spitzer Space Telescope and was used in the discovery of the light echo. The portion of Cassiopeia A shown spans about 15 light years and lies 10,000 light years away toward the constellation of Cassiopeia.

This image of space shuttle Atlantis was taken shortly after the rotating service structure was rolled back at Launch Pad 39A, Thursday, July 7, 2011. Atlantis is set to liftoff today, Friday, July 8, on the final flight of the Space Shuttle Program.
