AKA Celeste!

Living in a desert, it's always hot, but it makes for great space-y/otherworldly photoshoots. This is my first custom barbie/fashion royalty hybrid! Origionally a Twilight Saga "Rosaline" doll, she was rerooted with acetate hair, which was another first for me, had her face repainted, and has a completely custom outfit that shines with over 400 swarovski crystals. The head was put on a fashion royalty body, since it was the only fully articulated perfect match. Her laser gun is made out of clay and was painted to look otherworldly and deadly. She's the first in a mini collection I'll be doing! 😉

A vehicle for the Space Police inspired by Blade Runner

Quite a while ago, some of you noticed the back corner of this ship, in one of my photos, and asked for a closer look. Well, finally, here it is! The Thunderfighter, from Buck Rogers In The 25th Century. The Thunderfighter is the main hero ship of the Buck Rogers Television show. This is my neo-classic space interpretation.

This was a lot of fun to build. I've tried to include some similar design elements, across all my recent classic space ships, and this is no exception. One challenge, was to balance adding enough greebles and details, to make it look like it belongs in my classic space fleet, but not so many that it takes away from the smooth, retro lines and shape of the original

It helped that before I did it in classic space colors, I made the original as a Christmas present, for a friend.

Come out to Bricks Cascade, in Portland, March 21-24, to see the Classic Space Fly-In. Bring your own classic spaceship, and join the fun! I'll be giving participants a custom pair of engraved 1x6 bricks, with custom LL registry numbers!

This moc was made a few years ago and I was very happy with the result of the mechanism both in its function and in its compact appearance. Originally the upper part was steampunk-themed as you can see in the video, for this digital version I made a model of a space vehicle with the colors of Mars Mission.

Technically it consists of two left and right parts each controlled by an M engine, each part has 4 legs in a total of 8 legs that give the vehicle a good balance and good maneuverability.

“Is Cornelius here?”

‘What AI unit would you like for his rover? This one?’

‘No, not the HAL 9000, that more something for a big interplanetary space ship… Get the Cozmo unit, that will do fine for this tiny rover.’

‘Which one is the Cozmo unit?’

‘Those little blue eyes…’

==================

I also bought set 60228, the mission control with a capsule-rocket. That set came with 2 (!) rovers. This little rover came is one of them.

It is more like a robot-conversion kit than a little rover, I think.

The robot unit (head and arms) can probably be equipped with rockets for space work, and with legs for casual walking work when stairs are to be expected.

I like the tiny caster wheels, although I wished there was a way for them to actually roll. And I wish I had seem these earlier (more on that later this month).

This one reminds me a bit like a robo-dog I experimented with 2 years ago (see below).

Too late for FebRovery but in this crazy world does it still matter? Here's my Space Classic utility robot, ancestor of the Power Loader.

================

Set 60229 came with one small robot-rover that would fit into the cargo bay of the shuttle-rocket (the one on the left).

I think it is designed along the lines of the Mars rovers we have send out in the last decades; a semi-autonomous vehicle with 6 wheels, an observation mast (here with stereoscopic cameras I think), solar power panels and something to drill/scoop/scratch the surface.

After not liking the big rover set (60225) it came as a surprise to me that this new line had small rovers that I did like!

It offers quite a bit of room for modifications, so I gave it a quick try. Seat and control panel for a human driver instead of AI unit. The drill was replaced by a laser drill (of course). And I stuck a proper communication dish on it. I think the basic design of this Rover offers as much possibilities for modification as the old tiny grey rovers from Classic Space. Just stick on diggers, claws, lasers, power packs or wherever you like, it will work…

Mission Space has been one of those pavilions that I never really had a lot of pics of. I just never wound up on that side of the park around close and by the time I made it around there it was roped off. With that in mind I decided to dedicate some time during an EMH night to getting some pics of Mission Space. I actually wound up spending about an hour shooting all around Mission Space from various angles getting a bunch of different shots. It's safe to say I have a good mix of shots of this pavilion now. It's always nice to be able to fill in some of the gaps in my Walt Disney World photo coverage.

This was shot with the Nikon D810 and Nikon 70-200 2.8. The moon was very well positioned over the pavilion and nearly full so I knew this would be a perfect time for shooting Mission Space. I always love being able to include elements such as stars or moons with Mission Space since they fit so well thematically. For this shot I stood quite a ways back and zoomed in on the pavilion. This helped make the moon appear a bit larger in the frame and also compressed the elements in the frame in a way I felt was interesting architecturally.

This is my orchid. I love flowers. Never thought to picture it in such a pose. i'm excited about the outcome of this experiment.

Happy Macro Monday!

Thanks for all your faves and comments everyone!

I really appreciate them!

Camera was on tripod and connected to the computer, shutter triggered by software control. My wire is rather short so i had to move my subject near to the computer. Bloom was lit by a small led light.

The interior of the museum is as shockingly beautiful as the exterior. The light coming through the generous allocation of glass windows illuminates the inner space in a very pleasant way and brings you right into the artistic high you don't want to wake up from...

'I still have to break it, don' tI?'

'Just the bottle Syl, not the ship!'

**************************

Very slightly modified version of the space ship from small set 60224.

I have 2 smallish space shuttles, the one that came with the space station (set 60227) and this one. And for the last 3 weeks I have been trying this and that to come up with my own version, but those Lego designers knew what they were doing. Their design worked best...

In the end, I just added a pair of extra small wings to the front...

After not feeling well all weekend I'm finally recovering and preparing for my trip to Seattle (starting on Friday).

As I'll not have the time to post anything in the next two weeks here's something from my last trip to Seattle to show you where I am / will be. The Space Needle's imposing structure at Seattle Center is recognized as the city's architectural icon.

Take care and have a wonderful time!
