S’Urthu e sos Buttudos sono le maschere tradizionali di Fonni, il paese più alto della Sardegna, nella provincia di Nuoro. S’Urthu, l’animale, ha il consueto campanaccio ed è vestito di pelli nere o bianche, di montone o di caprone, e viene tenuto alla catena da sos Buttudos, uomini incappucciati vestiti di nero, con dei campanacci sulle spalle. Le due maschere, che compaiono per i fuochi di Sant’Antonio, mettono in scena la classica lotta tra bene e male, tra l’uomo e l’animale: s’Urthu, l’animale, cerca di scappare e di liberarsi arrampicandosi ovunque, su alberi e balconi, mentre sos Buttudos cercano di domarlo.

GIORNATA MONDIALE DELL'AMBIENTE - SOS FRATINO
Quello in foto è un pullo di fratino nato appena due giorni fa sulle spiagge maremmane. Il fratino viene definito “sentinella del benessere ambientale” perché nidifica in luoghi che godono di ottima salute; è però un raro uccelletto in via di estinzione per la scarsità di ambienti sani e per essere indifeso da attacchi di predatori o dalle attività umane. I piccoli non voleranno prima di un mese e l’unico mezzo di difesa è quello di restare immobili sperando nel mimetismo. Ecco allora che nella giornata dell’ambiente rivolgo l’invito alle persone che frequentano in questo periodo le nostre spiagge di non inseguire o toccare i pulcini e in particolare ai padroni di cani di tenerli al guinzaglio.
