A picturesque stone village nestled in the forested mountains of Ariège, France. Slate rooftops and tightly packed buildings cluster around a central church steeple, rising above the greenery. Mist drapes the surrounding peaks, softening the contours and adding depth to the scene. The foreground is rich with vegetation, enhancing the sense of immersion. This tranquil setting captures the quiet rhythm of rural life, where architecture and nature blend seamlessly in the Pyrenean foothills.

Softening up Black Friday! Happy Floral Friday!

The softness in this image is created purely by the fact that it was shot in a blizzard

Adrienne blinked, stunned. “What do you mean I remember from times past?”

Kayla’s voice softened. “Every soul carries echoes. No matter how many lives you've lived, something always lingers—instincts, fragments… a pull toward what you once were.”

Adrienne narrowed her eyes. “You’re saying I was reincarnated… and that I used to be a Jumper?”

“I don’t just think it—I know it,” Kayla said, certainty in her voice. “It’s in your lineage. Your DNA. Your bloodline. You, I came from the same origin. You’ve reincarnated dozens of times since the beginning always connected to that spark.”

Adrienne’s disbelief flickered behind her guarded expression, but something in her shifted—curiosity, maybe. Or dread.

“I hope we can awaken some of your memories,” Kayla said gently. “So you won’t have to relearn everything from scratch.”

She reached out, pressing her fingertips to the side of Adrienne’s head. Eyes fluttering closed, she inhaled deeply, then held the silence like a thread between them.

Adrienne’s mind went blank and saw she saw intense bright light.

A moment passed. Then another. Kayla’s smile broke quietly across her face.

“Yes… it’s all there. Buried deep, but intact.”

“What’s there? What did you do?” Adrienne asked, her voice wary.

“Everything,” Kayla said. “The instincts, the paths you once walked as a Jumper. It's all there. Once you begin using your abilities, it’ll start returning.”

Adrienne shook her head, uncertain. This is insane, she thought. How did I get into this...

Kayla opened her eyes and responded without missing a beat. “Not insane. Just… more real than you’re ready to admit.”

Adrienne flinched. “That was— You were in my head. I heard you inside my head.”

Kayla grinned, playful and sure. “Yup. You’ve got this. Don’t block it—believe.”

The Hogweed seedheads were filling the field and blowing about in the breeze.

(I fiddled with this one a little by using a softening tool and another slider which accentuated the texture of the stems and seedheads.)

Another shot from Scarborough beach just after sunset. The colours were just magic. Another shot of the fir twirler. I used an Urth filter (ethereal1/4) on all these shots. It softened the image a little and was a little more cinematic.

Macro Mondays, Redux 2022, need to find a photo to one of the themes of 2022. The list of all themes and some more statistics can be found here , www.flickr.com/groups/macromonday/discuss/72157721915254700/

Since there is so much to choose, sharp, Monday 19th September seems to be an obvious choice. I am sure the Hornhauthobel or callus scraper is able to remove something.

Curves, Monday 11th of November seems to 9

Not to forget Reflections, as on Monday 4th. The white as you see it, is mostly the reflection of the soft box on the highly reflective surface

So, and since it’s quite hard to estimate the size, the removable scrapper part is in total approx. 6 x 3 cm. But on display are approx. 2.5 x 1.25 cm.

That doesn’t make sense to estimate 0.5 mm says my engineering mind, but that’s when you split 1 mm.

Other than this, single monolight with a large softbox with an inner and outer white cover to soften the light.

Feel free to leave comments and constructive feedback. No P1/C1 or seen in group and similar.

The unstoppable incursion of spring is beginning to dominate the northland, breaking the cold, iron-hard grip of winter... and what a welcome seasonal advance it is!

Spring meltwater in the wetlands at the foot of the Cathedral Mountains.

This was about a week ago, I haven't gone to this pond since, because of cloudy weather.

I am hoping there have been welcome changes in the ice and snow since then....

Sea softened pilings are found everywhere along the beaches on the Rockaway Peninsula.

I headed out to the Rockaways this weekend to photograph the endangered Piping Plover. But, me being me, I found two pathways leading into the high dunes intriguing. Would I see hawks or falcons or an owl among the parks many pine trees? No, autumn is the best season to view raptors, but what I did find...... Tomorrow, the graffiti filled bunkers of Fort Tilden.

Note: Beginning June 15th, a $50 fishing permit is required to park in Fort Tilden; well worth the price of admission if you enjoy surfing casting for sea bass, blues, and summer flounder, or just strolling around taking snaps.

Also, there are no snack bars in Fort Tilden. So, if you don't bring it with you..... which may account for the large number of imported beer bottes I found among the cans of spray paint in the WWII bunkers.

"Brutalism" as an architectural style that features, among other things, unadorned concrete--in this case, the hard surface is molded with an interesting pattern.
