The calm repose of autumn days,

Soothing life's weary cares to rest."

... Others also are moved by a satiety of doing and seeing the same things ... Night is close at the heels of day, day at the heels of night; summer ends in autumn, winter rushes after autumn, and winter softens into spring; all nature in this way passes, only to return. I do nothing new; I see nothing new ...

Goodness, two weeks in a row I have a Slider for Slider Sunday group!

And, strangely enough, it is another flower in a bowl.

This was actually taken a long time ago, and I was never satisfied with it. But finding it in my archives again, I realized I liked this extremely softened version. So, here it is.

Happy Slider's Sunday everyone!

In late July and early August, most birds born during this season are already completely independent and get their food on their own.

The seagulls are not flying away.

The softening of color can give a whole new appreciation for a popular subject as seen here. Photography is such personal thing to every photographer. How we capture a subject or an emotion in a particular moment is important to us. How we pass along our interpretation can vary slightly or greatly, depending upon how decide to put forward a subject in front of appreciating and sometimes critical viewers. Enjoying the craft like we do can encourage us to tweak our work to our own liking. Thanks for viewing my work. Stay safe and continue to be kind. The World can get to be a dirty place so please take the time often to “Wash your 🙏’s.”

The clouds provided by a recently passed storm soften the light at the Horseshoe Bend. The Bend was created by the erosion of the Colorado River. The site is located near Page, AZ and is upstream of the Grand Canyon and shortly downstream of the the Glen Canyon Dam that forms Lake Powell.

One can argue that Horseshoe Bend is part of the Grand Canyon. For me, at least, the site has a very different feel to it.

As with other places, people endanger themselves by doing such things as sitting on the edge of the cliffs which rise about 1,000 ft above the river.

(granulosity and softening effect)

The mist softened the contours of the mountains and created a bright contrast between the dark mountains, creating an ethereal, tranquil, and lonely atmosphere. The overall ambiance was calm, restrained, and had a poetic beauty.🌸

霧氣柔化了山脈的輪廓,並在深色山體間形成明亮的對比,營造出一種空靈、靜謐且帶有孤寂感的意境,整體氛圍顯得沉穩、內斂,帶有一種詩意的美感。

DID YOU KNOW: The tiny glass frog (family Centrolenidae) is a tree frog found in the New World tropics. Some members of this species have translucent bellies and chests. When the viscera are visible, an observer can see the heart pumping blood into the arteries and food moving through the gut. The translucency, which may also extend to the frog’s sides and parts of its back, is a type of camouflage in which the edges of the frog blend with the relative brightness or darkness of its surroundings. This phenomenon, called edge diffusion, softens the line separating the colour of the frog’s skin from the colour of the background. Viewed from above, most glass frogs appear light green. When we hear “A Knock On The Door” perhaps we don’t always want to answer not knowing the outcome. When we get the privilege of seeing what’s on the other side of the door it can easily bring a smile to our faces. Be prepared with a few doggie treats because you’re about to become a very popular person. Size doesn’t matter as either of these charming canines will soften your mood and brighten your day. Thanks for viewing my work. Gratitude and Kindness can come in many different ways.

Last week, I posted a sunrise photo from Lake Shenandoah. This is from the same lake, on the same morning. The black specks on the water are geese that landed.

This exposure was shot about 20 minutes after this one. I also used a short telephoto (70mm) rather than the wide angle and a shallower DoF to soften the clouds and reflections. It's also underexposed by about a stop and a third. The only post-processing done was a resize and the addition of the black border. This sunrise really was a stunner.

I managed to kneel down to take a closer look at the morning dew, embracing the flare of a sunbeam on a green nest.

Going up a mountain in the dark and waiting for hours at the spot full of hope until the sunrise finally presents itself. And then to see with the own eyes that everything was worth it. That’s what I call the most beautiful gift that I can receive in landscape photography. Unfortunately, it is usually the opposite the case. But if you are lucky from time to time and you can experience a wonderful game of light and colors in the sky, you will be given the power to do that again and again. I must confess that this morning when I made this shot here I was hoping for some more clouds and spectacle in the sky, but I had to take what was there! Here I used just a polarizer to soften the light and I must say that I use this filter quite a lot! I hope you like my image and thanks for watching.

Softened Ranuculus Bouquet. My favorite flowers are Dahlia, Ranunculus and Peony

of image and mood during an afternoon in my childhood wood

A wooden disc whispers be mine to no one in particular. Another clutches a spiked sphere like a relic from a dream half-remembered. An old table phone waits for a ring that will never come. The statue of a girl keeps her silent vigil beside a doll whose tangled hair tells of once-busy hands now stilled. An antique coffee cup cools in eternal pause. And there, on the table, a photograph of a boy and his rabbit captured in joy, unaware they too would one day join the quiet company of things left behind.

Softening up Black Friday! Happy Floral Friday!

The softness in this image is created purely by the fact that it was shot in a blizzard

Adrienne blinked, stunned. “What do you mean I remember from times past?”

Kayla’s voice softened. “Every soul carries echoes. No matter how many lives you've lived, something always lingers—instincts, fragments… a pull toward what you once were.”

Adrienne narrowed her eyes. “You’re saying I was reincarnated… and that I used to be a Jumper?”

“I don’t just think it—I know it,” Kayla said, certainty in her voice. “It’s in your lineage. Your DNA. Your bloodline. You, I came from the same origin. You’ve reincarnated dozens of times since the beginning always connected to that spark.”

Adrienne’s disbelief flickered behind her guarded expression, but something in her shifted—curiosity, maybe. Or dread.

“I hope we can awaken some of your memories,” Kayla said gently. “So you won’t have to relearn everything from scratch.”

She reached out, pressing her fingertips to the side of Adrienne’s head. Eyes fluttering closed, she inhaled deeply, then held the silence like a thread between them.

Adrienne’s mind went blank and saw she saw intense bright light.

A moment passed. Then another. Kayla’s smile broke quietly across her face.

“Yes… it’s all there. Buried deep, but intact.”

“What’s there? What did you do?” Adrienne asked, her voice wary.

“Everything,” Kayla said. “The instincts, the paths you once walked as a Jumper. It's all there. Once you begin using your abilities, it’ll start returning.”

Adrienne shook her head, uncertain. This is insane, she thought. How did I get into this...

Kayla opened her eyes and responded without missing a beat. “Not insane. Just… more real than you’re ready to admit.”

Adrienne flinched. “That was— You were in my head. I heard you inside my head.”

Kayla grinned, playful and sure. “Yup. You’ve got this. Don’t block it—believe.”
