Our trees (and people) here in California have had their fill of smoke exposure due to all the forest fires. Submittal for the Oct 18,2021 Macro Monday’s theme of “Smoke.”

So maybe I was not smoking mad but I was frustrated. I had a LE in mind but mother nature decided she didn't want to play ball.
This is not my usual style but in spite of the frustrations I like how it turned out :)

We eventually got round to burning a huge pile of garden waste this morning. The smoke was something else! We were going to do it last week but the mistral winds were blowing too hard. Today is the start of what looks like a sunny week with temperatures in double digits for the first time for a while. The garden was white with thick frost this morning as it got down to -3c last night. It even snowed for a brief period last week through the night. This is looking through to what we call the 'secret garden' as from the house it's not immediately apparent what is through the gap you see. The little bridge covers a metre wide stream. The land then slopes very gently down towards the river about 30 metres away with two lots of terraced garden. The tree you see overhanging the gap is what's known as a 'strawberry' tree. It's not literally because of strawberries but only because the fruit look similar (I think?!).
3801 (pronounced Thirty-eight o-one) is a 4-6-2 steam locomotive operated by the New South Wales Government Railways between 1943 and 1974. It is arguably Australia's most famous steam locomotive, being the only one to have visited all mainland states and territories. Not my best shot of this engine, but she was really smoking. Below is a shot taken a few seconds later as she flew past me.
The amazing sight of steam rising from leaves at a local nature reserve as the sun came over the horizon, one day back in September.
You can see the individual droplets among the rainbow colours - I thought at first they were a result of processing, but they can be clearly seen in the original too.
Having picked up at Meadow Creek this westbound C&O coal train gets under way with a smokin second unit - July 24, 1976.
With E9 No. 951 dressed in American Freedom Train colors, Union Pacific's Old Timer's Special departs Evanston, Wyoming at the Lincoln Highway bridge east of town on Sept. 25, 1976.

When a woman walks into the room and ALL the air is filled with the overwhelming smell of her beauty. This is my lovey ♥♥♥
I’ve posted his image before… but just re-worked another that I wanted to share along with the throwback memory … this was one of my first street portraits … I’d been carrying the camera for several days … but was just too timid to make a shot … …. was just so against my nature and habit to approach strangers on the street and ask to make their picture …. but … he was standing in the queue … his nyc bus was approaching ... seconds away … I was struck by his presence … compelled to capture that .... and the portrait was in my head before I made the shot …. happily he let my camera borrow his face … all these years later my only regret is that I didn’t give my contact ... never able to share with him the image ….it remains one of my favorites … at least I can share it here with you ….
