About 3 years ago, I met a prolific and successful photographer. I showed him my portfolio, and he said that while he admire my technical capabilities, my photography does not say anything. I have been on a quest to change that, but it has been difficult — that while I have much to say, I rarely express it through my photography as I mainly see it as means to study composition.

Three years later, I finally found the urge the say something. This is what I had to say. But I am far long from being able to express that from the photo alone. As a designer, I think that if a photo does not inherent communicate a message, it fails. I am many years away from communicating. I will continue to try this long communication.

So after more research it appears that these are not a seagulls but in fact Asian Waterbirds. Apparently, they are under WWF protection and is a rare species—but I see them all the time outside the window.

Also noted: I definitely need a longer lens. But it is good because I never really got to use my 70-200 til I moved back to Hong Kong.

Some captures are impossible to process inside Lightroom, so this was done in Photoshop.

I bought these wireless HDMI units in order to do video projection at a piano concert next month. The first time I did it, I didn’t realize the projector would have to be placed so close to the stage.

For the concert in May, I thought that I would instead send the HDMI signal wirelessly, then I would be able to sit far away from the stage.

I decided on the Hollyland Mars 300 Pro units because it’s one of the items available at B&H. Although I now live in Hong Kong, I continue to do research at B&H because they only carry items that are useful to professional photographers and videographers, with reviews that are helpful.

I bought these from a photography shop locally.

About Arthur Russell

Wikipedia: Arthur Russel (musician)

Charles Arthur Russell, Jr. (May 21, 1951 – April 4, 1992) was an American cellist, composer, singer, and disco artist. While he found the most success in dance music, Russell's career bridged New York's downtown, rock, and dance music scenes; his collaborators ranged from Philip Glass to David Byrne to Nicky Siano. Relatively unknown during his lifetime, a series of reissues and compilations have raised his profile in the 2000s.

The ever changing water photographed at the ground level as well as from the 27th floor vantage point of SML Universe HKG using the 70-200 f/4L + 1.4x Extender zoomed to the max (280mm). I think that I need a longer lens, and am shopping for one.

There was some color oddity added to the mix when YouTube / Flickr / Vimeo re-encoded my video so hereby reissue as black and white as well as tweaked with curves. Which is a whole lot better now, I think.

3.7-liter VTEC Engine

While Acura engineers are certainly concerned with creating generous amounts of pulse-quickening power, their first priority is ensuring that the power is created as efficiently as possible. Consider the ZDX engine, which utilizes two separate cam profiles in order to generate peak performance throughout the powerband. A cold-air induction system packs in more oxygen for more powerful combustion. The use of materials like aluminium and magnesium allow result in a lighter, more agile vehicle. Open the throttle and you'll instantly appreciate the power of innovative thinking.

Arthurs Landing is a group of musicians, all of whom worked at various times in various contexts with the late Arthur Russell, a cellist and composer from Iowa who lived on the Lower East Side for most of the later part of his too-short life. Russell brought together the worlds of dance, pop, and folk with that of downtowns new music, and fused Western and Eastern musical traditions, driven by his engagement with Buddhist thought and practice. He collaborated often with Allen Ginsberg, and Phillip Glass was also an early mentor. Characteristic of Russell's method was his tendency to work hard and long, and he rarely considered anything finished. What was his unending pursuit of the ineffable becomes a challenge and inspiration for the Arthurs Landing ensemble. It is hard to resist the ambition and humor behind compositions with titles like Temple of Meaning, Terrace of Intelligibility, and Hop on Down to Petland. Russell is the focus of the feature-length 2008 documentary directed by Matt Wolf, Wild Combination. A biography by Tim Lawrence, Hold Onto Your Dreams, is due out this year.

The Arthurs Landing ensemble will perform pop songs and parts of a longer instrumental work called Singing Tractors and will be available following the performance to answer questions about Russells life and work.

People always say that I'm organized, mostly because they saw my file naming schemes, folder structure, severe tagging activities or the anal layout of my Flickr sets. But really I'm very messy and have stuff *all over the place*.
