Black Head is composed of Devonian mudstones, however unlike its neighbour Red Head, the name does not refer to the colour of the rock, but rather the Irish birthplace (Black Head Antrim) of the first settler William Hoy who moved to Black Head NSW around 1881.

I Gde Barata was charm and diplomacy personified as he delivered the closing speech. I understood one word in ten, my Indonesian being limited to fairly simple expressions, but by the flickers of acknowledgement on the military faces I understood that they were being thanked and praised. A very wise course on the part of I Gde, whose surf lifesaving club depended entirely on the goodwill of the authorities for its existence. Watching I Gde over the next few weeks I was enormously impressed with his commitment to his club and his diplomatic skill.

I got my new Sigma 12-24mm in the mail and was very excited to try out the world's widest rectilinear lens. Lens flare is a problem with this lens but still managed to get a few good ones!
