Day 6

Lol, I think it was funny that the other two are upside down sleeping XD

This owl has been a pleasure to have in my yard this summer & fall. He's very tame as owls go, completely unconcerned about me from 25 or 30 feet out. One day I managed to sneak up on him as he was sleeping. The wind was blowing hard, and the grass was soft & wet. Even so, you only get a couple shots with a DSLR before they snap to and stare you down.

He still screeches like a juvenile and quite often I can hear him during the day; I've never heard him hoot. In addition, this owl only has one operational eye. The other appears to be damaged somehow. I've watched him numerous days this summer and have taken gobs of pics, but his left eye is never open.

Paranoid personality disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis characterized by paranoia and a pervasive, long-standing suspiciousness and generalized mistrust of others.

Those with the condition are hypersensitive, are easily slighted, and habitually relate to the world by vigilant scanning of the environment for clues or suggestions to validate their prejudicial ideas or biases. Paranoid individuals are eager observers. They think they are in danger and look for signs and threats of that danger, disregarding any facts. ( Waldinger, 1997). They tend to be guarded and suspicious and have quite constricted emotional lives. Their incapacity for meaningful emotional involvement and the general pattern of isolated withdrawal often lend a quality of schizoid isolation to their life experience

Sleeping Swan II

A re-edit of an image I took 2 years ago today. Since then I feel I have grown as a photographer in many ways including gaining far more skills in post processing.

I have been using @captureonepro for nearly a year now and as I needed to learn how it worked, it almost reset my editing approach. I think I had become too complacent and reliant on presets. I have found many benefits to Capture One Pro which I will put down in a future blog post.

This image was edited in Capture One Pro and the first thing I noticed was the colours. Capture One’s RAW processing appeared to make the colours pop more than before.

Let me know what you think.

This was a rare sight indeed even from day one puppy Asha sleeping or was she? I remember reading that dogs at home spend a lot of their time sleeping and especially when little pups. Asha very rarely slept during the day, she was always so full of beans from day one so that is why looking at this sleeping Asha on her first day home is a rare thing indeed. Puppy Asha was a follower and we were her flock, anybody who left the room she instinctively followed them to see where they were going. She had to know where all her flock where in the house before coming back into the living room to be with the rest of the family.

I remember very vividly the times seeing puppy Asha lying like this and thinking she was asleep and very gently getting up so as not to disturb her, but the slightest wee creek from getting up of the chair wee puppy Asha's eyes opened immediately and she was up in a flash and ready to follow you. There is a golden rule that when your dog or cat is asleep you do everything in your power not to disturb their sleep, even sit for a extra hour with them on you lap when dying to go to the bathroom until you can hold it in no more.

This rule applied to us all and when we seen puppy Asha apparently deep in sleep like this, we all tried to get up without making a sound, but none of us were ever able to get up and leave the room without puppy Asha hearing the slightest wee creek and then bouncing wide awake ready to follow. It got to the point that in the end we gave up trying to sneak out of the room quietly as not to wake her up as that was impossible to do and I do wonder if Asha was ever fast asleep in the first place...lol.

I just want to add that there is no such thing as personal space when you have a border collie, when I needed to go to the bathroom puppy Asha thought this was her own personal play time and would quickly run to find a ball or toy for me to play with her while in the bathroom. All I know is that when you have a puppy/dog who wants to play while you are in the bathroom and you know it means so much to them. You can't say NO, you just do it to make them happy. I think that is what Love is all about you do things you don't particular want to do as you know it makes that person/dog happy. When your dog is happy you are happy.

This is the memory that comes across so strongly when I look at this picture...

A wee add on...This just sprung to mind talking about personal space. I remember when puppy Asha started following me into the bathroom I felt uncomfortable with her being there, embarrassed even. Then I said to myself, well Asha does her business in front of me and not only does she do her business in front of me I have to pick it up and put it in a wee bag and dispose of it. Asha wasn't embarrassed so why should I be?. This cured me of my embarrassment...lol

I don't mind

I don't hold on

I miss him sleeping with me every night, so lonely in bed without him. Sometimes I forget & I feel his presence, especially at night when I'm alone in my bedroom. For 8 years, he was my shadow...my companion, longer than any of my human relationships.
