Sunsets have much meaning. They signify endings, change, and transformation and remind us that change is part of life and everything has an end.
Some of you may have heard of the famous Cape Breton Celtic band called the Barra MacNeils without knowing what the name actually signifies. Historically the MacNeil’s were the chief clan of the Isle of Barra a Western Scottish Island that saw a lot of its population immigrate to other British colonies during the 17th and 18th centuries including PEI. St. Patrick's the grand dame captured here is a far cry from the log structure that the first 20+ families from Barra erected here in 1790, it also has the distinction of being the first church in Canada to be dedicated to St Patrick.

When I visited this woodland a week before, the bluebells were well on their way to their best but there was little else in the forest to signify Spring. A week later and I was amazed by how much spring had sprung into life, especially in the canopy and lower branches.

Ataraxia (Ἀταραξία "tranquility") is a Greek term used by Pyrrho and Epicurus for a lucid state, characterized by freedom from worry or any other preoccupation.
For the Epicureans, ataraxia was synonymous with the only true happiness possible for a person.
It signifies the state of robust tranquility that derives from eschewing faith in an afterlife, not fearing the gods because they are distant and unconcerned with us, avoiding politics and vexatious people, surrounding oneself with trustworthy and affectionate friends and, most importantly, being an affectionate, virtuous person, worthy of trust.
On the Ellon roundabout in Aberdeenshire by the Ythan River Bridge there is a lovely galvanised steel mesh statue sculpture of an otter.
The 10 feet tall statue was designed and created by sculptor Andy Scott in Glasgow.
An otter was chosen to signify the relationship between Ellon and the River Ythan which is home to many otters.

The name is Mór-Ríoghain in Modern Irish. It has been translated as "great queen", "phantom queen" or "mare queen". The Morrígan is mainly associated with war and fate, especially with foretelling doom, death or victory in battle. She often took the form of a raven during battle.
It is said she alighted on the shoulder of the great warrior Cuchulainn on the battlefield signifying his death. She had also previously appeared to him as an old woman washing clothes on the banks of the river. He knew that this was a portent of his approaching fate.

Red is cheerful and bright, at least that's what I always thought about red. Beginning Nov. 12, 2020 Manitoba will be on full lockdown, the first Canadian Province to order another second full lockdown since the first one in March. Manitoba has been listed as Red which is considered Critical, the highest level on our Pandemic Response System. Green signifies Limited Risk of Transmission. After having the lowest rate of transmission during the summer, Manitoba now has the highest rate of transmission of Covid-19 in Canada with Winnipeg being the hotspot which is where I live. I just hope that everybody can do their part to get the numbers down. "Think Green" my fellow Manitobans and Canadians! We'll get this under control if everybody does their part! Please be safe! Keep well and hang in there!

The delicate flowers and foliage of Wild Chervil delight the heart even in a Cold Spring. 'Chervil' is said to go back on two Greek words signifying something like 'foliage delight'. Indeed, the fine-structured leaves and umbelliferous collections of tiny flowers are quite beautiful close-by and splendid fields make Spring bright and happy.
Small and delicate 22-Spot Ladybird likes to forage for Mildew on this and other umbrella flowers.

Stone on the far shore is Inukshuk
Inukshuk - is a stone landmark used as a milestone or directional marker by the Inuit of the Canadian Arctic. Inuksuit differ from some cairns in significance. The Arctic Circle, dominated by permafrost, has few natural landmarks and thus the inuksuk was central to navigation across the barren tundra.
Inuksuit vary in shape and size, and perform a diverse array of tasks. It is a symbol with deep roots in the Inuit culture, a directional marker that signifies safety, hope and friendship.

Ocean Terminal (Chinese: 海運大廈) is a cruise terminal and shopping centre located on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.
The location of Ocean Terminal was once a wharf pier (Kowloon Star Ferry Pier, Kowloon Wharf and Godown) on the west shore of Tsim Sha Tsui. Rebuilt and enlarged for use as a cruise terminal, it also served as a multi-story shopping centre. Ocean Terminal opened on 22 March 1966, signifying the increasing wealth of Hong Kong. Costing HK$70 million, its 112 shops made it "the largest shopping centre" in Hong Kong.

Daytime portrait of the historic Split Rock Lighthouse on Lake Superior's North Shore about 40 miles northeast of Two Harbors, Minnesota.
Funds for the light station were appropriated by Congress in 1907 at the bidding of U.S. Steel Corp. and other iron ore interests after a November 1905 storm on Lake Superior damaged 29 ships (a third of which were uninsured and owned by U.S. Steel).
The station was opened in 1910 and was decommissioned in 1969 during the era when technology was making lighthouses obsolete. The State of Minnesota has had the site since 1971, and in 1976 it turned operations of the light station over to the Minnesota Historical Society. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 2011.

This is simply an electrical switch for a device located some distance away. In this case the red signifies on or go, whereas in other circumstances, red often means stop or no-go!
If you would like a fuller technical explanation here it is……….. A fused spur is an electrical supply ‘socket’ that incorporates a fuse. This allows a spur electrical supply, using one feeder cable, to a separate socket taken off the ring main circuit.

Autumn Begins...
The first signs of fall, begin with the changing of the leaves, the sudden burst of color that signifies the end of summer. The transition to fall and the onset of winter.
This maple tree was already yellow; losing its leaves to the winds that jostled its branches... The brilliant sun shone through the top its branches setting it ablaze with colour.
