Shared Spaces paving where vehicles & pedestrians are supposed to share the space. This concept is still quite alien to the drivers departing the Vero Building car park in the evenings.

Cascade, Michigan

I took advantage of the Australia Day long weekend (okay, the holiday was Thursday, but I made it a long weekend) and shot some street photography whilst waiting for a friend of mine.

Working with a city map, pointing to areas that are places of meetings with others. Which are these places? Why do we choose them? Why do we feel good when we are there? What places in town are missing? What is the role of the Internet as a meeting place? In what way the Internet is different from a real place? How far does it changes the type of our mutual relations?

Bing Place looking East. No markings here as it's 'shared space' - my only disappointment

Varanasi’s waterway is home to wildlife, livestock, bathers, Sadhu (holy people) as well as the throngs of vendors, taxi drivers and visitors to the area. This shared space knows no boundaries, with people and animals passing from the river, to the Ghats, to the streets without anything or anyone interrupting them – as shown here with this water buffalo and bather in shot.

sharing space... blue herons are quite tolerant of other waterfowl....Most water birds get attracted to a spot, if they see another bird fishing/hunting productively in a certain area. It's amazing how different species have so much tolerance for each other. Great Blue herons are about 3'-4' tall and they have to seriously focus to see a fish in water. This water always has some ripples, unless it has surface ice.

Feel free to use this to help explain Shared Space.
