More than the hobbyists’ pursuit, maker communities are disrupting manufacturing. Shared spaces offer a new amalgam of craft, industry and technology, where both tools and knowledge are pooled. July's Friday Late invited visitors to resist mass production and uncover how hacked machines and open source design are changing the way we make and live.

We share space 5:30-6:30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We share the decision to come sweat instead of packing our bag after work and going home. We share a love for God’s smart motivator…endorphines!

Currently I am sharing space with my son while we paint Warhammer figures. That's what all the paint is for. The M270 is a long way from painting.

Patty loves to cuddle and will share space on the sofa for quite a while. She loves to play with the her brother and sister (Pally and Pammy). They will wrestle and chase each other in the yard, then share toys. Patty is crate trained, is almost housebroken and responds to the commands "No" and "Sit". She will follow along when her foster walks outside. She played with the neighborhood children and was very well behaved while they petted and walked her. She will probably be a medium sized dog. Patty has all of her immunizations and has been spayed and micro-chipped. If you would like to get more information on Patty or arrange a meeting please fill out an online questionnaire/application. You can also take her for Rent-a-pet to see how she can fits into your family.

On Sunday, June 13 zoo staff welcomed the birth of a female sea lion pup, the first birth of this species at the zoo since 1993. It has not yet been named. Denver Zoo visitors now can see the pup as it explores the seal pool in the zoo’s Northern Shores area with her mother.
The pup was born to mother, Luci, and father, Nick. Luci was born in Orlando, Florida at Sea World in 2001 and came to Denver Zoo two years later. Nick came to Denver Zoo from the Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC) in Laguna Beach, California in 2008. This is the first offspring for both parents. Luci is a very attentive mother and once the pup is more mobile, he will share space with the other sea lions.
Some photos of our new studio space — we're sharing space and expertise with Tubatomic, an interactive design company. Stop by and visit us if you're ever near 1601 Gulf St, 600 Chattanooga 37408.
And don't worry, we still have all the letterpress equipment, we're just keeping it at our old location for the time being (it's a little difficult to bring a 4,000 press up this flight of stairs over here).
Pictured here is the well-to-do Northern side of Cali. Rio Cali separates the residential barrio Centenario and the more commercial barrio El Peñon where elite condo towers share space with upmarket hotels and restaurants.

At slightly loose ends after dropping a friend off, I was driving down 17th Ave SW when I spotted something unusual at 8th St. A bunch of tiki torches, couches, chairs, candles...
I was all "Man, that looks comfy as hell" and "What the heck is that?"
So me being me, I parked the car and grabbed my camera and tripod and wandered over to say hello and ask.
It's called a spontaneous living room. A few people organised it to use unutilized or underutilized space and make it part of the community again. Most of the people hanging out and chatting were complete strangers. They just stopped, were curious, and then intrigued.
Much like I was. After taking these shots, I sat down with a young 22 year old guy who is trying to make his way in the world of photography. Which of course led to a discussion of the arts scene in Calgary (HAH!). Seriously passionate guy who I think will probably do some truly neat stuff if he can catch a break *and* get it together at the same time ;)
Lots of fun, hope to see more of these cropping up. I haven't just kicked back and relaxed and chatted with perfect strangers in quite some time.
If you see one of these? Stop and check it out. Take a few minutes from your busy life, and discover and talk to the people you share space with. They can be pretty cool!
My thanks to Tavis Ford for being a friendly face welcoming people to the spontaneous living room.

This white egret wasn't any too eager to share space with the late-arriving wood stork. There was plenty of room elsewhere!

A little cyclist/pedestrian tension on London's South Bank (albeit in a very understated English way).

As well as a terrace, we have access to an interior shared space, where people hang their clothes. Sometimes, mostly during weekends, it's completely full of them.

The Haverstock Hill site provided LUC with an opportunity to develop shared space gardens, play areas, and a green roof for residents of the redevelopment to enjoy.
