STS102-E-5369 (19 March 2001) --- Five astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut share space on the flight deck of the Space Shuttle Discovery following that spacecraft's separation from the International Space Station (ISS). Cosmonaut Sergei K. Krikalev, far left, joins astronaut William M. (Bill) Shepherd (bottom center) and cosmonaut Yuri P. Gidzenko (out of frame) on the return trip after several months aboard the ISS outpost. The other STS-102 crew members are (beginning second left) astronauts James M. Kelly, pilot; and Andrew S.W. Thomas, and Paul W. Richards, both mission specialists; along with astronaut James D. Wetherbee, commander.

Still going, seen in a nice area, and sharing space with a more modern C70 just in shot. I would say the future is safe for this one.

SHARED SPACE DESIGN: Surface design pictured not used else where -- different colour, but no markings on the footpath. This increases conflict with pedestrians.
POOR ROUTING: As picture here, a yield sign for cyclists is placed just a few meters after cyclists enter onto the shared space -- this goes against rules of the road which states cyclist and pedestrians travelling along a main road have the right of way . Cyclists are also put up a hill while the bus lane is comparably level -- increasing effort level needed, which mostly hinders the old, and young. Also makes route far harder for new cyclists or those who are thinking about commuting.
LEGALITY: Shared cyclist / pedestrian sign is currently not in road traffic legislation. Bus lane sign (partly picture in the background beside the buses) is also not in road traffic legislation. Legality of a yield sign to the right side if cyclists is also questionable.
