A large Peninsula Cooter (Pseudemys peninsularis), sharing space with with a couple of Red-bellied Cooters, appears to challenge physics by balancing with seemingly more of its mass hanging over the water.

There's a sea like glass on this moonlit night; no chill, no wind, nothing to fight the feeling. I stand still as a stone on these breakwater rocks. I don't talk, even to myself for fear of shattering silence. From a mile away, I hear a car crossing on the Shore Road. Out to the point, every ripple carries waves of sound. There's nothing overlapping, no shared space in the auditory landscape. Desolate noise, I hear every thump of my pulse, the crackle of drying dulse underfoot, the scrape of shoe soles against granite. I don't take the sea for granted, though I may go days without visiting. The availability means everything, an horizon within reach just over the mountain. Keep calling me out and I'll give back what I can – a memory for the next person thirsty for salt water. I've got what you've been missing.

Examples from Haymarket and York sheds share space.

Las Olas River House is a 42-story residential skyscraper located in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It stands as one of the tallest buildings in Ft. Lauderdale and in Broward County. The structure is a complex created by three adjoining buildings; two duplicate 42-story towers, and one 34-story tower.

The building has 285 residential units, made up of one, two, and three-bedroom condominiums, and also includes a 10,000-square-foot (930 m2) glass-walled fitness center that overlooks the New River which is only for the exclusive use of residents and a 60,000-square-foot (5,600 m2) rooftop garden on the sixth floor. Las Olas River House condo includes a sixth-floor cocktail bistro lounge, a separate quiet library area, a private meeting room, poolside cabanas, and a major conference area for meetings and conducting business. Las Olas River House also contains “Smart” building features that allow all its residents to access all the building’s amenities at a touch of a button.

The building is part of a highrise boom in the downtown area, along with other condominiums and residential towers such as Las Olas Grand.

The BAR way out west, or way out Midwest at least. Not sure how far west Bangor & Aroostock power ever got, but we did see it quite often in ChicagoLand back in the early years of Conrail. We're here in the Indiana Harbor Belt's Blue Island yard in Riverdale, IL back in June of 1977. BAR GP38 81 is sharing space with a former Penn Central FP7A. There's a BAR GP9 coupled to the 81, and tied to the GP9 is a former Erie-Lackawanna GP35. If you didn't mind getting your shoes ruined by the mud and oil and gunk in the yard, you had yourself quite the time.

Public transportation has a unique way of presenting photographic opportunities. As I stood on the bustling tram platform, waiting at the Trinité tram stop in Saint-Gilles, I observed amidst the crowd a fascinating tableau: a mosaic of people, each engrossed in their individual activities and thoughts. The contrast between their physical proximity and emotional detachment struck me. Public transportation has the power to bring people together in shared spaces while keeping their worlds apart - Trinité tram stop, Saint-Gilles, Brussels, Belgium

A bucket list place. . . .one that needs a high clearance 4X4 by late July, Yankee Boy Basin near Ouray became reality when friends asked if I'd like to share space in their campground near Ouray......And they had an equipped 4-wheel drive SUV. I couldn't refuse & had a great birthday summer outing! We trekked to Yankee Boy early the first morning there, and were not disappointed.

Astronauts Carl J. Meade and Mark C. Lee (red strip on suit) test the new Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER) system some 130 nautical miles above Earth. The pair was actually performing an in-space rehearsal or demonstration of a contingency rescue using never-before flown hardware. Meade, who here wears the small back-pack unit with its complementary chest-mounted control unit, and Lee anchored to the Space Shuttle Discovery's Remote Manipulator System (RMS) robot arm, took turns using the SAFER hardware during their shared space walk.

Vernor's Ginger Ale Cincinnati OH

Vine Street & Mitchell Avenue

I have admired this sign for many years and I should have photographed it long ago. I was in the area a couple of weeks back and made a point of stopping.

There was a maintenance man working on the front door of the building and he came around and we started talking. Really nice younger gentleman. As it turns out he is the owner of the building. He told me something that made me very unhappy. He's going to paint the building. So this will be going away soon along with the other 3 signs that share space here.

When I was a youngster, the Cincinnati bottling plant for Vernor's was a mile or so from where we lived. I thought it would be neat to see the place but the men up front would only let me see what could be viewed from the lobby.

A tree is a community, after all. Fungi, lichens (which are communities themselves), spiders, and, no doubt, others share space on and in the bark. The roots are another community story altogether.

A couple of ex BN U-boats share space with an out of service 1803 and a couple of still in service RSD12's in early summer 1989 at Eagle Mills. The RSD12's were first to be retired as the big GE's arrived.

Untitled by Moises Frank: At this point talking to black squares on zoom became a normal part of my everyday cycle. Rinse and repeat, program after program. However, this group opened a window of fresh air. A rather unlikely amalgamation of people from different walks gathered to explore public art and specifically mural making. As the weeks progressed, I would soon be able to connect familiar voices to new smiles turning their cameras on for the session.

I was tuning in from my small but cozy apartment on Weston Road. We discussed in great depth the fundamentals of colour, composition and murals we thought were whack whilst drinking tea and listening to some chill lofi music. When the time came to start designing this mural we had lengthy debates on how to represent something without it being too obvious or too tacky.

We found ourselves contemplating a laundromat. Sort of an odd place to represent diversity, however the more we conceptualized the more meaning started to unfold. I thought about the laundromat in my building. A truly communal space. A space where you would meet neighbours you didn’t know you had.

I thought about the laundromat my mom went to and ended up working at in Rexdale. I thought about the people that went there, the different cultures, the different scents, different fabrics, different stories intersecting in this common place to clean; to carry and to care for these articles that in some way are an outer representation of something internal. We may have dressed differently or used different soap, but this was a uniquely human task. Everybody needs to wash their underwear.

The following weeks we shared stories of clothes and materials that were personal and meaningful to us and brainstormed different ways to represent our collection. We imagined a clothesline that held and united our diverse fabrics and patterned clothing as symbolic flags waving proudly together.

It’s deeply satisfying to reflect on the small black squares becoming a small window into someone's home and deeper yet a small window into someone's being. I am honoured to share space and manifest ideas into spray painted murals.

Well, leaving work technically. But today was my first day back in the office after our trip. Our office is in a shared space in Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis.

The building is covered in graph art which changes periodically as they shake the etch-a-sketch priming everything a neutral color and allowing artists to come tag or create murals.

Being my first day back, the building surrounded by snow that fell while we were in sunny warm Mexico was a fitting shot for the day.

located in the city of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan is the largest Sufi shrine in South Asia.It was built to house the remains of the Muslim mystic, Abul Hassan Ali Hujwiri, commonly known as Data Ganj Baksh, who is believed to have lived on the site in the 11th century CE. The site is considered to be the most sacred place in Lahore. It is one of the only places in Lahore where the extremely rich and extremely poor share space together.

The Old Lee County Courthouse is a two-story plus basement structure built in 1915, with a two-story plus basement addition built in 1926. The U.S Department of the Interior added the courthouse to the national register of historic places in 1989, making it protected by the United States Government.

The restoration areas are located within the shared spaces on both the first and second floors and the stairway leading into the basement. The original materials and finishes that were carefully restored and preserved on the structure’s interior included mosaic tile flooring, marble flooring and stairway, marble wainscoting and baseboards, marble partitions and counters, marble windowsills, interior brick veneer, and interior stone. The original materials and finishes restored and preserved on the structure’s exterior included the mosaic tiles located at the entrances.

like my room, this will probably forever be a work in progress!

This photo was taken during an 8-hour third-class train ride from Tashkent to Bukhara. The air inside had become heavy and stale, as there was no air conditioning and the outside temperature was 37°C.

The man on the right sits quietly, shielding his face—not just from the heat, but from the thick, smelly air hanging in the compartment. You can feel the exhaustion in his posture. Meanwhile, the older man in the foreground is squeezing past in the narrow aisle, one of many small movements in a space that offered little room to breathe.

It was a tough ride. But moments like these say a lot without words. Travel isn't always comfortable, but it's real and human.

Mutrah Souk in Muscat is a vibrant maze of narrow alleys, blending history with a modern tourist vibe. As you step inside, you're hit by a mix of smells—frankincense, sandalwood, spices, and perfumes—creating an exotic and somewhat overwhelming aroma. It’s one of Oman’s oldest markets, but today it feels more like a tourist hub. Traditional Omani items like silver jewelry and pottery share space with stalls selling souvenirs and fake-brand watches. While it’s more about soaking in the lively energy than getting a real glimpse of local life, the unique sensory experience makes it worth a visit - Mutrah Souk, Muscat, Oman

Could it be? Have we found something to preoccupy Elizabeth so that she doesn't complain about sharing precious space with "that " person?

An unusual visitor to the C&S roundhouse in Denver was CB&Q 4-8-4 5632. The sparkling Northern was in town for the 1963 NRHS convention. The loco had hauled the Intermountain Limited from Chicago to Lincoln, NE on the 26th of August. The train was then handled by CB&Q diesels the rest of the way to Denver (along with the detour to the Black Hills in South Dakota). 5632 was serviced then made the rest of the trip to Denver solo. This view was taken on the 29th or 30th of August when there was a lull in convention events. 5632 was sharing space at the Rice Yard roundhouse with C&S SD9 827.
