On August 25th I posted a picture on my Flickr stream titled "Good Morning!" This is the same location with a slightly different composition and was taken 17 minutes later. I love the way morning light changes so quickly - you can shoot the same scene several times and every image looks a bit different.
My Grandmother used to tell me that inside she was seventeen, even though she knew that she was eighty-nine. Today is my birthday, and although the outside of me is fifty-nine, just like Grandma used to say...inside I will forever be seventeen.
I had so many dreams back then and you can see them in my eyes. You know, all my dreams came true and some I hadn't even dreamed. The best part is that I'm still dreaming.

Count them, all 17 are in the photo; one is at upper left of photo! Went looking to find Wood Duck babies, these were in a backwater swamp area. The mom and babies went back and forth from one side to the other so as to stay within the reeds along each side, preventing predators catching them, I guess. The babies were very tiny, probably only a day or two old. Upon close inspection, they do look somewhat different than Mallard ducklings and are even smaller when born.
The seventeen story building, designed by Bakewell & Brown and built between 1923 and 1925, is one of a series of skyscrapers built during the 1910s and 1920s which imparted to San Francisco its downtown character. This character of large ornamented classic buildings is fast being lost with newer modern style buildings. 245 Market was also one of the first steel skyscrapers built in San Francisco

"Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the road which leads to life, and there are few who find it."

I spent the past weekend at an incredible Christian youth conference and so I wanted to create something dedicated to it for this week's piece. I didn't have time to shoot over the weekend so this is one I pulled out from school camp earlier in April.
I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth...
Had some fun at MagzineYourself.com..thinking perhaps with the assistance of Angie Rineheart I might have looked like this at 17?
I am seventeen years old already. Crazy how that happened. Really.

How was the seventeenth year of your life? Anything I should do? Any wise advice?
I can't feel your bones but I can see them
And I can't call you up without a reason
I can take a thousand miles and I can drive for hours to your house in the Summer
But I could stay for longer if you wanted me to
Oh oh oh oh oh
I've been up and I don't sleep enough
And oh oh
I don't sleep enough
And oh oh
I know we don't talk as much but I can hear you still
Oh oh oh oh oh
I can hear your voice on the phone when you're up all alone
Because I am up too

Rowing the campground up by the lake where we swam, we were hunting for snakes, but we couldn't find them. Surrounded by nothing, but the nothing's surrounded by us. But it's just me in my room, with my eyes shut. When I was seventeen, my mother said to me "don't stop imagining, the day that you do is the day that you die."
Now I pull a wanton carriage, instead of the horses, grazing along. I was having fun. We were all having fun.
My brain kicking faster than I can, but not fast enough. Who is there to talk to that won't lock me up? At least God doesn't judge me by the thoughts that I find, the snakes I couldn't find, I don't want to find.

Day 17 and there is a 17 minute wait for the bus to Eastbourne :)
I was struggling for a 17, but yesterday I just happened to notice these new bus stops tell you when the next bus is due ... great :)
So, me thinks, I'll walk up to the village whilst it's still dark this morning and snap the bus stop lit up. Good job I checked the time table on line, as the first bus on a Sunday isn't until 09.05.
I got there with a 43 minute wait, so went for a wander and of course, I found people to chat to, which meant I nearly didn't get back to the stop for the 17 minute mark :)))
PS ... Bexhill is made up of Cooden, Little Common (which we call the village), Pebsham, Sidley and the Old Town.
