We were on the second floor terrace of Caddy's On The Beach, and the gulls were very active. Although I was initially annoyed at them getting into frame, I realized they really were part of the scene.

I've had this image in mind for for a long while now. I am not loving the title. Can anyone help me out with a better one?
We're Here theme: "A passion for words" There are words in this shot so I am counting it!
Wonderful empty old barn and corral, both in good shape and seemingly waiting for someone to recognize their value. Nothing is quite as frightening to a person in their 50s and 60s as losing their jobs and realizing no one is interested in their once useful skills and experience.
The two big terminal railroads in the St. Louis area send numerous transfers to each other. On this day, the Alton & Southern 102 job ran a monster up to the TRRA and after waiting through congestion, returned home light power. Instead of one of the A&S painted SD62 rebuilds, a nice trio of armour yellow EMD's slides by - an SD70M and pair of SD60's. All of these units have been assigned to the A&S for a few years, so it is common to catch them hauling freight around the area.
In the background, TRRA's 101 job pulls up for a signal so they can continue yarding their train and the TRRA SD40-2 is assigned to the Trim Job. EMD's all around!

When I was in England I bought a box of cards as I like to use the English ones when I send to England. Back home again I found I still had plenty of cards so these ones will stay with me until next year.

You'd be amazed at the amount of activity pumped thru Pullman Jct even nowadays. Sure the names and destinations have diminished in quantity over the decades, but this location remains quite the impressive chokepoint within Chicagoland.
BH45 approaches the bird, bound for Clearing...I assume. The unknown stack transfer with the pink ONE container will be next to get clearance thru the junction. CP is sending a 680 sand train bound for Calumet Yard down the Belt as this photo is being made. CSX also has one west and one east for and to Clearing Yard via Pine Jct and the Water Level Route.
Of course this means my target - the CP heritage guy on G52 in the background - is going to wait til the absolute possible moment to get permission from NS' Calumet Yardmaster. They'll pull in with about 20 minutes left to work.
. . . I gave up on trying to see the Northern Lights in Muskegon tonight, but not before sending a message to the aliens up there! They responded with a quick meteor (on the right).
