Lots of tourists were stopping with their phone cameras when the light came

I always enjoy a good holiday

There was no rain in the air as such but it was dripping out of the trees when you stood under them

When the light turns up, so must you!

So I got this idea to use a slow shutter and a circular camera movement and this is what I got. Just snow falling on snow.

LIMNI - ΛΙΜΝΗ

Limni, on the island of Evia, is a small port, beach and tourist resort, which is beautiful the whole year round. It is located 80 km NW of Chalkida and about 150 km from Athens.

The island of Evia lies along the Eastern coast of Central Greece, and is accessible to the mainland via two bridges, an old wooden bridge and a contemporary suspension bridge. There are also frequent ferries to several parts of the island. It is 175 km long and is the second largest island in Greece, and the third largest in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Churches always have a specific orientation and layout

After several days with no photography I had to get out

I have tried doing this with a 70-200 in Autumn and maybe will again this year

Flowers as gaudy as the door

Great egret took two short flights towards us before settling to feed

Taken In Renews -NL-Canada

I cut this one pretty low to bring into the stinkio. I like the curves in the stem and the leaves, and those details inside the blosom. It's a rather pink poppy, rather than a red one. A ten image focus stack, it should reward relatively close scrutiny.

Or the ubiquitous "Flock Off"

Or "Follow that Tractor"

A day that gave some good, crisp light

This one was taken the old fashioned way: hand held, no stacking. I love the graphics, and that it's a poppy is almost incidental to me. Hope you like it too.

"Don't even think about taking my fish!"

Apart from some light rain and cloud around midday, I did see an amount of sun

A long hike!

Today's outing with the Environmental Cultural Club of Attica www.peripolo.gr was to visit the Ancient quarries of Mount Pentelikon where the world renowned marble was taken from, which was used to build the Acropolis and other Ancient Monuments. The stone was moved down to the city with an intricate network of carts and pulleys.

The ancient quarry is protected by law, and used exclusively to obtain material for the Acropolis Restoration Project. This roadway, used to transport marble blocks from the quarry to the Acropolis in antiquity, is a continual downhill, and follows the natural lay of the land. It has been researched and fully documented by the chief Acropolis restoration architect, Professor Manolis Korres, in his award-winning book "From Pentelicon to the Parthenon". A monastery is also located in the middle of the mountain, north-east of city centre.

The National Archaeological Museum of Athens is the largest archaeological museum in Greece and one of the most important museums in the world devoted to ancient Greek art. It was founded at the end of the 19th century to house and protect antiquities from all over Greece, thus displaying their historical, cultural and artistic value.

The construction of the museum's building began in 1866 and was completed in 1889, with the initial plan conceived by the architect Ludwig Lange. It was later modified by Panages Kalkos who was the main architect, Harmodios Vlachos and Ernst Ziller.

One from a trip into Wensleydale last week

bae caergybi,ynys mon

Another product of our recent week in North Caroline, this exposure was made about ten minutes after a virtually invisible sunrise on a very cloudy, dark morning. Sort of a blue hour, I set the white balance to daylight, rendering it in the blues.

Some late grass bales being taken in from a field I often photograph during the year

A colour shot from a few days ago, sketching for the Bronica

The middle of January, Alnmouth. Feels Surprising warm

Some bracken has already gone yellow - I need to start on the colour shots

This is the same plant seen in Amaryllis 1, 2, and 3, several days later. The toll taken by time is evident, but I for one still find this blossom beautiful. This is an 18-image focus stack, so it will reward very, very close examination.

DEDICATED TO MY GOOD FRIEND GEORGOS THANOS AND TO HIS MOTHER MRS. ZOE.
