LIMNI - ΛΙΜΝΗ

The island of Evia lies along the Eastern coast of Central Greece, and is accessible to the mainland via two bridges, an old wooden bridge and a contemporary suspension bridge. There are also frequent ferries to several parts of the island. It is 175 km long and is the second largest island in Greece, and the third largest in the Eastern Mediterranean.

We have been in a number of weeks of dry weather (although not always sunny or warm when cool air comes in from the sea to the East)

You can see how dull it is by the headlights

Some more shots from yesterday at the coast

Those pencils mark passing places - how sweet

Spotted at the church I went to today

Amplified by some cracking side light

Some of this coming over the next week - be prepared

Summer and the little boats are out that get masters to their larger boats

My copse which I cannot resist

Driving back when it was getting dark there was thick mist in some valleys

Straight back into the light

Popped out for a few hours locally after tea but no light

More rock from my Bamburgh holiday

Popped into Wensleydale today. Too often the sun was not where I was, so sometimes an hour waiting for light

Popped into Wensleydale today - Blue sky start (grey sky later!) with a cold wind - but otherwise dry and pleasant

Turned out to be a stunning evening. This is just 1/4 sec with the R5 hand-held

The Mt. Evans road in Colorado is the highest paved road in North America. Some friends and I went up to the summit right before the road closes for the year. The clouds on our way up in early morning and at the summit were spectacular, lovely weather (although a bit chilly) until those puffy clouds turned dark, and the thunder signaled rain showers turning to sleet on our way down the mountain.

I was lucky and had some light today - but also had to watch sideways rain from the car too

That red light of the low sun

A couple of trees I couldn't resist

Plaka, Athens, Greece.

Standing on the northern foothills of the Acropolis, the picturesque Plaka district still retains the atmosphere of old Athens.

Like #1 before, I found these leaves lying on one another in the driveway and, prompted by friends, I blacked out the blacktop, leaving only the leaves. We have a few ginko trees in the front yard and, when the leaves fall, they do it all at once, leaving the ground littered with them. It's been suggested that I must have moved them into position. I honestly cannot recall, but I therefore cannot swear that I didn't do just that. I am more than capable of such perfidy!

On the way back to Athens from Agrinion, Western Greece.

I was getting hungry at this point - the one apple I took with me didn't go far

A tougher day today - blue sky start before cloud rolled in. Gave me a chance of something atmospheric as the "tree" this evening

A warm Summer day with clouds to match
