Clear Lake is believed to be one of the oldest lakes in North America, due to a geological fluke. The lake sits on a huge block of stone which slowly tilts in the northern direction at the same rate as the lake fills in with sediment, thus keeping the water at roughly the same depth. Core samples of the lake's sediments, taken by U.S. Geological Survey geologists in 1973 and 1980, indicate that the lake is at least 480,000 years old. We enjoyed a picnic at this secluded inlet at Clear Lake State Park.

Best wishes for the week ahead! Thank you all for your visits, comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

This secluded house (Low Hole Bottom) is located on West Lane in Nidderdale which runs from the market town of Pateley Bridge to the disused site of Providence and Prosperous lead mines

It is also part of the Nidderdale Way circular path.

Driving in the Highlands is quite a difficult thing to do. Not simply because of the little windy roads, but finding a safe place to park, every few meters in order to get the camera out.

I spied a lit up area which had me dragging myself through the nettles to where I saw some young trees silhouetted in the morning misty light. Taken at Whiteleaf, Buckinghamshire.

Winds were ravaging the lakes up the Bear Lake Trail this morning. A secluded spot near Lake Haiyaha however offered some of the magic at sunrise, with Hallett Peak dominating the scenery.

With the weather the way it has been I haven't been out shooting in so long I'm out of just about all my groups pictures.. I created this one in MidJourney and I had to do a bit of work on it in Photoshop as I'm still learning what to say or do to get the result I want.. It's a great learning experience for sure.. I took this one at Trenchford Reservoir last Sunday. While almost back at the car park after our wonderful circular walk around the reservoirs we could hear a waterfall. We eventually passed a tributary which feeds Trenchford reservoir but the falls were hidden from view above. So after getting back to the car park I sneaked back with the tripod and climbed down to get this view, reminding me a bit of a Mayan temple hidden in the jungle. The light was pretty extreme with glaring sunshine on one half of the cascade and rest of the frame pretty dark. I therefore took 2 exposures and blended them together during the processing.

Still in one piece here after Esaisis. 75 mph, biblical rain but it blew through here at 33 miles an hour. Power came back last evening. It would be nice if this was it for the 2020 Hurrican e seasons. Hope you faired as well as we did....Stay Safe and thanks for the views.

Late afternoon at a secluded Portsea beach.

I have been spending some late afternoon, early evening time in a pretty secluded spot on the Lake - bugs of many kinds all over me - trying to locate the Pied-billed Grebe, and watching for any other activity. If one sits still enough, long enough, something is bound to happen…

These very young Wood Ducks ambled onshore and were completely oblivious to me, at least initially. The female with them stayed on the water in a supervisory capacity. Eventually a few of them noticed me, and I slowly brought up my camera while going from sitting to lying down, all in an effort not to spook them. The little photo bomber in the bottom right seemed full of beans, and they stayed for a couple of minutes, before re-entering the water.

There are often three or four sets of Wood Duck young on the water at this time of the year. I especially enjoyed the brief interaction with these ones as I had to misfortune to see a similarly-young duck caught by a Snapping Turtle a couple of weeks ago. Initially I didn’t understand the screaming and thrashing, but with binoculars I ended up figuring it out. It took a while to get that out of my head - I know predation is all around in natural settings, but that was a really unpleasant experience. These guys - who I know may suffer the same fate - cheered me up for the few minutes they were there.

The closer I could get from it, very dangerous (there was a sign posted). Spring is beginning to show its face on the little green leaves, the rest is gloomy except for the emerald color of the water. (Union Canal Tunnel Park-Lebanon, PA)

Thanks for your visit and taking the time to comment so I can visit your photos, too... very much appreciated! Have a great day and stay safe!🙋‍♀️
