Amenia Beach in San Andres, Catanduanes is the first of a long line of golden sand beaches in the southern coast of the province. This beach happens to have the widest swath of sand during low tide, a landscape quite similar to the more popular Cagbalete Island in Quezon province. On closeer inspection, the sand particles here are a combination of creamy white and orange particles, resulting in the color seen in this picture.
Galapagos Sea Lions love to hang out along the beaches and shallow accesses to the ocean. This little one opened his eye for one brief click of my camera before nodding back to sleep.

Caught up with SEQ Meetup guys Dave and Steve at Pt Cartwright on Sunday for a dawn shoot. Thanks Dave for organising a catch up it was a good morning and nice to meet you guys.
For any interested I've been trying to find a no fuss method for determining the timing for long exposures in minimal light. For this shot I tried using a simple system where you use the cameras meter to take a pre-shot at ISO 6400 and convert the number of seconds to minutes to get the equivalent ISO 100 exposure (keeping the aperture constant). Eg. a 5 second exposure at IS 6400 = 5 minutes at ISO 100. Worked a treat - perfect exposure and its quick and easy!
