The 13th International Conference on Emerging Trends in Corporate Finance and Financial Markets, held at SDMIMD, Mysuru, brought together thought leaders, academicians, and industry experts for a deep dive into the evolving landscape of finance.
In Technical Session 1, we had the privilege of hosting Mr. Ramkumar Sukumar, Director–Finance at Roc360, New York, who delivered an insightful talk on “Emerging Trends in Corporate Finance and Financial Markets.”
He explored how AI is reshaping real-time finance, revolutionizing the way markets operate, and redefining corporate financial strategies. His session offered delegates a glimpse into the exciting confluence of finance, technology, and innovation.
The session was chaired by Dr. Nandakishore Shetty, Associate Professor – Marketing, SDMIMD, whose perspectives added further depth to the discussion.
The exchange of ideas and insights truly illuminated the new wave of transformation sweeping across the finance world.
A Guest Lecture on Responsible Business Strategy was organized for the first-year students on July 24 & 25, 2023. The talk was delivered by Dr. Shilpa Iyanna, Senior Lecturer in Marketing at New Castle Business School, Northumbria University. The aim of the workshop was to provide the students with insights into the process of brand building.
Shilpa Iyanna talked about how brands are built, different methods for building brands, and the significance of brands from a consumer's perspective. In addition, she explored the internal and external factors that influence brand marketing, the importance of culture and cross-cultural considerations, and the challenges associated with brand management. And the various cases pertaining to top brands and their advertising techniques were discussed.

A 32 hours Add-on certificate programme for M.Com students of MMKSDM, Mysore was conducted at SDMIMD from 5th June to 10th June 2023.

The 9th International Economics Conference on “Economic Growth and Sustainable Development: Emerging Trends” was held on November 21-22, 2024. The conference was addressed by eminent speakers. Mr. Ramana Kumar CSV, Vice President at Wipro Ltd inaugurated the conference and delivered a keynote address. The conference featured a special talk by Prof. Trilochan Sastry, Professor at IIM Bangalore who is a luminary in the field of governance and social impact. Additionally, a panel discussion was held on “Being Responsible and Sustainable in the New Age: Challenges and Opportunities”. The experts in the panel were Mr. Suguru Kawashima, CFO-Findy, Japan, Dr. AKM Shahidullah, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, Dr. G S Ganesh Prasad, ANSSIRD, Government of Karnataka and Dr. Sunil Kapadia, Consultant- BFSI, Pune. The discussion was moderated by Dr (Lt Col) Prasad S.N, Director, SDMIMD Mysore. Dr. Balu Kenchappa, Chief General Manager and Ombudsman at Reserve Bank of India delivered the valedictory address to the conference. Across two days 144 papers were presented and deliberated by research scholars, academics and practitioners on the various issues related to the theme of the conference. Dr (Lt Col) Prasad S.N, Director, SDMIMD Mysore delivered opening and closing remarks to the conference. Dr B Venkatraja, Conference Chairperson introduced the theme of the conference and delivered the vote of thanks. The discussions across two days emphasized that economic development is inevitable, while on the path of progress having a check on environmental degradation is of paramount significance.

SDMIMD organised a one-day Research Development Program on “Writing Impactful Research Paper for Indexed Journal: Editor’s Perspective” on July 7, 2023. The day-long program covered pertinent topics such as an overview of different types of research, conceptualization of the research theme, structuring a research paper, research ethics and journal selection. The event was attended by 60 participants who were research scholars and Faculty affiliating with organizations from different parts of the country. Dr.Venkatraja B, Associate Professor of Economics at SDMIMD Mysore was the Resource Person of the program.
