Despite this being one of the worst paint jobs I've seen on a locomotive, it was nice to see a veteran SD70 working the yard.

IC 1002 east (ICGEDUPEI) passes the spot where the M&StL used to cross the CB&Q at Molitor Junction on the BNSF Peoria Sub, in the winter of 2001.
I was ready to shoot Amtrak 07T with AMTK 145 on the point here - I figured the nice sliver of light would be great to catch the engine in. All of those plans went up in smoke, though, when NS 565 came rolling around the corner heading west on one, and moving at a crawling speed. The engine's cab signals had failed, and he was preparing to stop down the line to figure out the next move. As it crawled by, Amtrak 07T snuck by behind him on main two. I would have been disappointed, had NS 565 not had a great leader, a standard cab SD70, something of a rarity out here these days - so maybe it was a good thing I was blocked here!
I had seen this train earlier in Rantoul. I was able to catch up with again after it stopped in the Ashkum siding to wait for three southbounds to pass. Former Illinois Central SD70 No. 1034 leads IC 1020 and a CN unit through Chebanse, Illinois.
NS Eastbound Freight Train 172 ( New Orleans, LA to Linwood, NC ) passes through 50th Street in Woodlawn, AL on the passenger main with NS SD70 2549 leading the way.

First, you may have noticed I put a watermark on this photo. I gotta go through all 1k+ photos in my backlog and start adding it. Greaaaat. People have been stealing my work apparently, you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.
Anyway, here’s a westbound NS intermodal (27G?) passing Altoona whilst racing a empty combined coal train.
The lead unit, NS SD70ACe #1000 was the first SD70ACe that NS received. This unit also served as a testbed for the series of HTCR bogeys used on the Tier 4 SD70. They’re still on the engine and make it look kinda different compared to all other units from that particular generation of SD70ACe.
Also of note is the stacked up piggyback trailers on TOFC cars behind the power.
