A scorpion found under a small piece of bark on this log on Jekyll Island Georgia last week. Not what I was hoping to find under the bark.
This creation was inspired by Nick Trotta’s (www.flickr.com/photos/tardisblue/) mind blowing starfighters, and is an entry into the Mystery Bag category of the 2016 MOCAthalon.
For the category I had 5 parts that I had to include in the build: Plate 1×2 with Door Rail, Barb Large Flexible, Brick 1×1 with Headlight, Plate with Angular Extension, and the Scorpion. I’d been wanting to do a star-fighter for a while and given the required parts selection, a star-fighter in the shape of a scorpion seemed like the obvious choice.

The small scorpion anatomy posters - available in German and English!
The upcoming large anatomy poster will have 20 images. For comparison, the old tarantula anatomy poster had only 5! mygale.de/en/tarantula-anatomy-poster/

The result is veeery small, so the legs aren't perfect, but I like it :)

An articulated BigFig I made of my favorite Mortal Kombat fighter, Scorpion -- unmasked with his skull face form.
This was a quick build that I made over the course of a night. The figure is rather articulated and stable, although his arms are a big flimsy due to the Technic pin joints.
I plan on using this base design for making additional ninjas, in the same vein as the color palette swapping of Sub-Zero, Reptile, and Smoke.
The Scorpion is a small vehicle driven by the reckless. Useful for offroad, shooting things and falling over.
The scorpion and grasshopper sculptures are just two of over 130 sculptures that make up the Galleta Meadows Estates public art project around Borrego Springs, California.

This is my first attempt to this fantastic scorpion. I really like this model cause it's not hard and very impressive, enjoy ;)
My latest design....
I know there are already a lot of amazing scorpion designs in existence but I still wanted to design my own, so here it is.
Box pleated on a grid of 52 which is annoying because you need to divide into 13th. Its not too much of a hassle though because I know a way to divide into 13 without using a ruler. Folded from a 50cm square of tissue foil. This design has varileg. First leg is 4 units long, second is 5, third is 6 and fourth is 7.
I am really happy with the way this turned out. Hope you guys like it :D
I had to do some odd cropping in this shot to avoid heads, hands, beer bottles and other assorted obstacles. I wish I were taller. In other news, Rudolf Schenker looks great for 74, his age at the time of this photograph! He is ripping it up on stage!

Mecoptera
"Mecoptera (from the Greek: meco- = "long", -ptera = "wings") are an order of insects with about 550 species in nine families worldwide. Mecoptera are sometimes called scorpionflies after their largest family, Panorpidae, in which the males have enlarged genitals that look similar to the stinger of a scorpion. The Bittacidae, or hangingflies, are a prominent family of elongate insects known for their elaborate mating rituals, in which females choose mates based on the quality of gift prey offered by various males.
While modern Mecoptera are overwhelmingly predators or consumers of dead organisms, early ones might have played an important role before the evolution of other insects in pollinating extinct gymnosperms."

About
The Scorpion Fly is a strange looking insect which is found in gardens, hedgerows and woodland edges, particularly amongst nettles and Bramble. It has a long beak-like projection from its head that is uses to feed, scavenging on dead insects and frequently stealing the contents of spider's webs. It lives up to its name by sporting a scorpion-like tail, which the male uses in courtship displays. Adults usually mate at night, but mating can be a dangerous game for the male, who might easily be killed by the female. So he presents her with a nuptial gift of a dead insect or a mass of saliva to placate her - the equivalent of a box of chocolates! The resulting eggs are laid in the soil and the emerging larvae live and pupate at the soil surface.
How to identify
The Scorpion Fly has a black and yellow body, a reddish head with a long beak, dark patches on the wings and a scorpion-like tail which does not sting (the male has two claspers at the end for mating). There is 3 species of Scorpion Fly that live in the UK and these are difficult to tell apart.
