Imperial scientist, in charge of genetic engineering, put tiny, glowing piece of cold rock under microscope and run several tests. After a few moments...

- Wow. This is incredible! It changed the DNA structure of a tissue sample I've added! Cells look much stronger now. I wonder if it would work on... oh, I need a volunteer!

The Scientist from the Arctic Base Camp posed for a quick portrait yesterday. I really like this minifig and the printing on his torso. I just wish I could fix the decal on the TV in the background. I tried 5 times to get that decal straight before I just gave up... oh well....

The scientist shook the flask in his hand ... no reaction ... batch X37T-A was a failure like all of his previous batches. "Might as well just pour this batch down the sink and start again" he thought.

"I mean, what harm can it do ... "

Day 218. While my husband was doing jobs outside, I was moving furniture and doing important things such as this. And in-case there is any doubt, I'm not claiming to be a rocket scientist :-)

The theme for the party was 'science' and I dressed up as a mad scientist. We made volcanoes, slime and lava lamps together. Unfortunately my assistant, "Vanna," forgot to take pictures during the experiments. Good help is so hard to find.

Volunteers from the Merri Paddle group collecting and analysing water samples from the Merri Creek in then north of Melbourne as part of an evaluation of a number of sites along the creek for their suitability as platypus habitat.

Only occasional sightings of the platypus, Australia's famous duckbilled semi aquatic mammal, have occurred on the Merri Creek over the years as this once very degraded (but partially recovered) waterway has not been suitable platypus habitat for many decades as a result of industrial and agricultural encroachment on the catchment.

The hope is that this type of monitoring will create greater community awareness of the condition of the creek leading to advocacy and action by citizens and government to fully restore the Merri Creek environment.

OFFICIAL POLICE REPORT:

At approximately 0100 hours on March 29th 2018, a 911 call was made from an apartment complex near the site of the incident, reporting a large crash from the upper floors of the building and a body down below. Within the hour a team was went to the area to investigate. The body on the ground was identified as Dr. Simon Griener, a bio-engineer working at a nearby university, with his own private lab in the upper floors of the building. The team then gained access to the lab, where they confirmed the broken window seemingly covered in the scientist's blood. As well the team noted a set of tanks with one containing a humanoid life form and the other shattered with its liquid contents spilled over the floor, though there was no trace of what might have been in it. There were signs of struggle in the lab, and it was suspected that a life form similar to the one still in the tank had escaped and thrown the doctor to his doom, though this is entirely unconfirmed. A bio-hazard team was called in to retrieve the tanks, whose contents are still unknown. The bio-hazard team suggests that one of Dr. Griener's colleagues might have thrown him out the window and flown the scene, though the original team insists that the window was far too thick for any human to destroy with such force. The investigation is ongoing.

This style is so overdone, and this design is so ridiculous, but it was way fun to make.

I wonder if I could make a series about giant animals attacking people?

2045, 5th November, Kingston, London, England. As scientists seek an answer to the world’s problem Dr Goddard and Dr Jet believe they may have found a solution.

With the year 2050AD fast approaching, the deadline in the Kyoto Protocol, they now believe after years of testing they may have found a new fuel, zeloz-ethylene.

As a result of the increasing depth of fracking, new gases were discovered near the earth’s core, one being a gas called zeloz. The British scientists believe that the new gas mixed with other gases such as ethylene will change the power industry.

I was gonna do backstories but I'm too scared now...

Actually a very sweet young scientist at North York General Hospital in Toronto Ontario. My professor and I photographed the innards of the hospital and got to see some extremely interesting places that your everyday person doesn't get the privilege to see. I got the opportunity to meet some truly incredible people that are changing peoples lives every single day.

Soil scientists record the characteristics of the pedons, associated plant communities, geology, landforms, and other features that they study. They describe the kind and arrangement of soil horizons and their color, texture, size and shape of soil aggregates, kind and amount of rock fragments, distribution of plant roots, reaction, and other features that enable them to classify and identify soils. They describe plant species present (their combinations, productivity, and condition) to classify plant communities, correlate them to the soils with which they are typically associated, and predict their response to management and change.

The Icknuun soil series (a hydric soil) consists of very deep, very poorly drained soils that formed in organic material interlayered with thin strata of mineral material. Icknuun soils are in depressions on till plains. Slopes range from 0 to 3 percent.

Hydric soils are formed under conditions of saturation, flooding, or ponding long enough during the growing season to develop anaerobic conditions in the upper part (Federal Register, 1994). Most hydric soils exhibit characteristic morphologies that result from repeated periods of saturation or inundation that last more than a few days.

Our friend, senior fisheries biologist Dr. Sherrylynn Rowe, prepares to clean an Atlantic Cod (Gadus morhua) at Petty Harbour, Newfoundland.

Dr. Rowe's science focusses on stock assessment and related research involving ecology and life history of groundfish and marine invertebrates. She has also examined linkages between spawning behaviour and population dynamics of Atlantic Cod and the role of marine protected areas in enhancing lobster populations and fisheries.

Her work takes her to Fogo Island at the northeast tip of Newfoundland, where she is assisting the local fishing community in assessing cod stocks.

Petty Harbour is a beautiful little community not far from St. John's and is worth dropping by for a visit. It's both a working fishing town, and a tourist destination with a small aquarium and good restaurants.

Photo note: Serendipity often brings an image together - in this case Dr. Rowe's work outfit matches the wooden sea wall and the outfit's yellow straps match the yellow railings on the wharf.

This week's theme is 'Mad Scientist'. Immediately, I thought of creating a photo that is a tribute to Frankie Alina's roots as a monster of Frankenstein. Here we see her experimenting with bringing smaller things to life. This is Frankie Alina's first 'monster'.

Owen recently decided that for Halloween instead of being a dragon, he would prefer to be a dragonologist. Having seen plenty of little moments like this here and there, I am really not surprised.

In my experience, all eight and a half years of it so far, as his dad, I think the best moments are the little ones like this. Sure, the first steps, the first words, the first day of kindergarten and all the other milestones are great. But it is the simple, little moments that color this young life so vibrantly because they happen most every day.

Albert Einstein is likely the most well known of the scientists. Pretty crazy to think he was alive less than 60 years ago! With the anniversary of his death coming up, I thought I'd celebrate Einstein in Lego :)
