A potato-battery is not science ...
This model shows the room from Portal 2 in which experiments are shown. These experiments were made by children during the "bring your daughter to work day".
But Wheatley finds the results not so clever...
Author: Dmitri Mendeleev
Date: 1891
Description: A table showing the periodicity of the properties of many chemical elements, from the first English edition of Dmitrii Mendeleev's Principles of Chemistry (1891, translated from the Russian fifth edition). It is worth noting that the date, the presence of Gallium and the presence of Germanium this table indicate that it is not his original table. Thus it shows well his pattern recognition process, but not that he predicted the existence of Ga and Ge.

Toni Preckwinkle is President of the Cook County Board. My wife invited her to attend her kids' science fair and was so surprised that Toni could find the time in her busy schedule to make it. She was very kind, ate cold pizza with us and gave the kids her sincere and undivided attention. It was a great experience for them.
Students are conducting a hands-on science experiment in a classroom, using lemons and oranges to explore concepts in a practical way. The atmosphere is lively and engaging.
The Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS) was launched on December 12, 2013. The new Institute will help researchers harness the full potential of the data-rich world that today characterizes all fields of science and discovery. BIDS will build on existing campus strengths to facilitate and enhance the development and application of cutting-edge data science techniques in the biological, social, physical and engineering sciences.
The new Institute will move into its new location in Doe Library at the center of the UC Berkeley campus in spring 2014.

Quite a cute film in the first place.
But then, it's really a sad one.
I so love Charlotte Gainsbourg.(She is also in the film "I'm Not There")

Construction continues on the Powerhouse Science Center, including the steel structure for the planetarium dome. Last week one curved beam was signed (in white) by several people who have worked to bring this project to life!

Dreyfuss + Blackford Architecture’s design for the Powerhouse Science Center re-envisions a historic riverfront structure as a hub for science education, exploration and promotion in the City of Sacramento. On the banks of the Sacramento River, the Science Center grows out from an abandoned power station building. As a principal component of the Riverfront activation, the Powerhouse Science Center anchors Robert T. Matsui Waterfront Park and borders the southern terminus of the 32-mile American River Bike Trail.
Vacant for over half a century, the structure undergoes a complete historic rehabilitation and the construction of a new floor level inside. A new two-story addition projects from the east side, containing a lobby, classrooms, offices and a cafe. A 110-seat planetarium is prominently on display with a zinc-clad hemispheric dome rising above the building’s mass. As representation of our place in the universe, the facade and building mass is sectioned by multiple planes, creating continuous vector lines that extend across the building and site. From satellites to world landmarks, the lines form connections with local and global points of interest.
The original PG&E Power Station B was designed in 1912 in the Beaux Arts Style by architect Willis Polk and was formally closed in 1954. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, California Register of Historic Places and the Sacramento Register of Historic & Cultural Resources. The Powerhouse Science Center is designed to achieve a USGBC LEED Rating of Silver.
