We managed to get out and about yesterday, been feeling low so it was nice to feel the sun and fresh air. Whenever we are in Steveston we always buy a loaf of bread at Romania Country Bread. The owner built the wood-fired oven himself and is quite a character. All he makes is one type of bread and it costs ten dollars a loaf but it is fabulous. As for Win Win Chicken, haven't tried it yet :)

Pampas Grass @ the River.

This was taken during a walk around the harbor district of Olde Havana. I was just walking with the camera looking for interesting things to photograph and this became a pleasant scene for me to take a photo.

Back in February I spent a morning at March station.

66742 waits in the loop while the Stanstead bound Turbostar I had arrived here on restarts its journey

I had plane tickets to Arizona for a week of sun and trains. It would have been a great trip, especially with some cool pics of various southwestern operations showing up on Flickr in the days leading up to my planned departure. However, one nagging concern kept me second-guessing that decision right up until literally the last minute. Despite a dismal weather forecast for the East Coast, and the anticipated hoards of (fellow) foaming fans, I decided a trip to see Western New York and Pennsylvania ALCOs was the better option. The threat - of course - was the arrival of several big GEs to replace the ALCos.

WYNP's ex-CSX AC6000 #6002 had recently come through St. Louis on its way from repainting on the Arkansas & Missouri and had already been recorded leading trains down to Pennsylvania. WNYP #6001 had departed St. Louis only days prior. There was no time to lose.

Fourteen hours after departing the St. Louis metroplex, I rolled into Olean, NY and headed directly to the shops to see how things were arranged for the following day. 6002 was positioned to lead something, but this here is what I came for...or at least some of what I came for.

Ex-CP MLW RS18u #417 and ex-NYC C430 #431 sit quietly at the WNYP shops, ready for the following morning's activities. 417 and ex-DH RS3M #406 would end up working the yard, while 431 apparently headed out to Falconer, NY in company with C430 #430 and C424 #435.

Former L&Y Aspinall 'A' Class no. 12322 (currently in LMS livery and bearing its pre-nationalisation number) crosses the Irwell south of Ewood Bridge with the 11.05 Bury to Rawtenstall service on the 21st April 2016.

On a visit to the tulip fields, we passed by the daffodil fields and saw about half a dozen rogue irises among the almost-finished daffodils

A typical Marrakech street scene near one of the entrances to the 'Medina' - the walled old town.

Even in a large, bustling city such as Marrakech, donkeys are still used extensively for transport, particularly in the narrow streets and alleyways of the medina and its souks.

😁Happy Sliders Sunday! 😁

This is the same whooping crane that was in a photo posted back in December. I saw it again, several days later, and this time it was way too close to the county road. This is at 200mm.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

I've been wanting to get back up to Maine so here's another look back from my last trip up that way earlier in the year.

After a quick crew change the American crew is on board Canadian Pacific train 250 (Montreal St. Luc Yard to Brownville Junction, ME manifest) and starting the train on its home stretch. This is MP 73.6 on CP's Moosehead Subdivision and at right is the original Canadian Pacific station erected in 1910, now unused and derelict it amazingly was a stop for VIA Rail's Atlantic until 1994.

Providing the sole power was a pair of SD40-2F Barns CMQ 9017 and 9020 (GMDD London, ON blt. Nov. 1988 for CP with the same numbers). The 9017 received this Bangor and Aroostook heritage scheme in 2016 at the historic former BAR Derby shops to honor one of CMQ's component roads.

To learn more about this railroad and some history check out the detailed caption with this shot from last summer of a westbound train at this same spot: flic.kr/p/2j8jsNW
