This was the first of two (the other being XG905) VTOL research / development aircraft first flown in the late 1950s. The SC1 was the first British fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) jet aircraft. It was powered by five Rolls-Royce RB.108 turbojets (4 for lift, one for forward thrust).

Für mich als Sammler von Objektiven - der heute auch noch damit fotografiert - ist ein weiterer wichtiger Vorteil, dass die solide verarbeitete Kamera einen M42 Anschluß hat. Damit ist sie für mich fast eine "eierlegende Wollmichsau" für die ganze "M42-Welt".

The identical model with a more powerful lens (1: 1.7 55mm) cost DM 499.
For me as a collector of lenses - who still takes photos with them today - another important advantage is that the solidly made camera has an M42 connection. So for me she is almost an "egg-laying woolly swine" for the whole "M42 world".
The press photo was taken on the occasion of the opening of the Foto-Quelle headquarters in Nuremberg in 1978. It shows interested representatives from Bavaria and the government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
