We saw both Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs at Merritt Island National Wildlife Reserve. When they stand next to each other, there is no question about which is which, but seen at different locals in non-breeding plumage, things are a little more difficult.

The Greater Yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca) is considerably larger, more robust and with a thicker bill that is both larger than the Lesser's, and relatively longer (compared to head size). In addition, the Greater's bill usually has a slight upturn as shown in this picture.

The Lesser Yellowlegs (Triga flavipes) will shown in another post.

A visitor to the yard of a neighbour who kindly invited me to photograph it.

saw this young coyote walking by himself in the grasses at Arastradero Preserve

I saw the first signs of the Oilseed Rape starting to bloom on our Norfolk wanderings yesterday so I thought would I pre-empt the widespread flowering of the yellow stuff in a few weeks with a shot from last May of the starting point for the Ridgeway National Trail at Overton Hill in Wiltshire. We walked quite a chunk of this trail last year but missed out the area around Wayland's Smithy, etc.

I have got a few favourite places lined up to visit in Wiltshire to get some great views of the yellow stuff when it makes an appearance.

Saw him in a different location about 85mins later, not sure if it is the same bird.

Saw this and thought it was unusual how the colour was shifting from green to brown!

Today I saw this beautiful bird. It was sitting on a treetop waiting for me or maybe not but I was very happy to see it.

Rhinoceros: since 1973 the population has recovered well and increased to 544 animals around the turn of the century. To ensure the survival of the endangered species in case of epidemics animals are translocated annually from Chitwan to the Bardia National Park and the Sukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve since 1986. However, the population has repeatedly been jeopardized by poaching: in 2002 alone, poachers killed 37 individuals in order to saw off and sell their valuable horns.[6] Chitwan has the largest population of Indian rhinoceros in Nepal, estimated at 605 individuals out of 645 in total in the country.

You saw me standing by the wall corner of a main street

And the lights are flashing on your window sill

All alone ain't much fun so you're looking for the thrill

And you know just what it takes and where to go

Don't save a prayer for me now

Save it til the morning after

No don't say a prayer for me now

Save it til the morning after

Feel the breeze deep on the inside look you down into the well

If you can you'll see the world in all his fire

Take a chance like all dreamers can't find another way

You don't have to dream it all, just live a day

Don't say a prayer for me now

Save it 'til the morning after

No don't say a prayer for me now

Save it 'til the morning after

Save it 'til the morning after

Save it 'til the morning after

Pretty looking road I try to hold the rising floods that fill my skin

Don't ask me why I'll keep my promise melt the ice

And you wanted to dance so I asked you to dance

But fear is in your soul

Some people call it a one night stand but we can call it paradise

Don't say a prayer for me now

Save it til the morning after

No don't say a prayer for me now

Save it 'til the morning after

Save it 'til the morning after

Save it 'til the morning after

Save it 'til the morning after

Save it 'til the morning after (doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo)

Save a prayer 'til the morning after

Save a prayer 'til the morning after

Save a prayer 'til the morning after

Save a prayer 'til the morning after

Save a prayer 'til the morning after

Save a prayer 'til the morning after

When I saw this mural I was shocked and intrigued at the same time. Thanks to gavweaver.com we now know what it is and means.

Wiki says.......

""""Since 1856, the name Baphomet has been associated with the "Sabbatic Goat" image drawn by Éliphas Lévi, which contains binary elements representing the "symbolization of the equilibrium of opposites", e.g. half-human and half-animal, male and female, good and evil, on and off, etc.).

On one hand, Lévi's intention was to symbolize his concept of balance that was essential to his magnetistic notion of the Astral Light; on the other hand, the Baphomet represents a tradition that should result in a perfect social order.""""

We saw this Common Snipe flying past us and finally located where it had landed in the reeds. Unfortunately the light was not great where it landed!

Saw this little green-veined white ( Artogeia napi ) at a wayside ditch near a hedgerow covered with forget me nots next to my house couldn't resist.

We saw that tiny guy during our journey through the forest. He seemed lost. Either slept till the day time and forgot to come back into his hole. We found the closest one and brought him there. Hope he is all well now.

I saw you today.

I didn’t mean to see what I saw, but I saw it and you cannot unsee that. I’m sorry.

I saw these while shopping and loved the spray of mushrooms, like that of a firework going off and wanted to portray that in a photo, they are called Enoki Mushrooms. They contain a lot of vitamins, minerals & other components which are beneficial to our health, which include improving digestive health, prevent the risk of cancer, lower cholesterol, help in weight loss, improve immune system, prevent allergy, prevents diabetes, prevents anemia, lower blood pressure and promote the intellectual development.

Becky saw the nice sunflowers that Anya brought me for Valentine's Day and ask if she could have her picture taken with them.. I told her one but not the whole bouquet.. So here she is, the happy camper holding one of the sunflowers.. Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday, Everybody!!!!!

Saw this stunningl little Bloody-nosed beetle larvae while walking on the Coastal Path between Polperro and Lansallos, Cornwall, UK. I think it was sleeping/sunning itself, just less than long 1cm at rest, handheld, used an Olloclip macro add on lens @ 14x magnification and a Hisy remote for this shot. Gently tickled and cropped in 'Photos' on Mac.

Earlier in day we had actually seen the adult version moving slowly, plodding along the path, they are quite comical, they walk as if they have hobnail boots on that are far too big for them, lifting their legs high into the air, slowly and deliberately, one by one......just wonderful to watch!!! Only now after identification do I know what they are.....

297 days till LOVE YOUR PET DAY

www.wikidates.org/daystill/love-your-pet-day_554.html

Deep inside an oak hammock was this beautiful example of an incredibly old saw palmetto. They are amazingly slow growers of only 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch per year and it can take 100 years for one to become an adult. The long pithy stem is an identifier for this plant and I estimate the length of the stem to be15 foot at minimum. Do the math this is a very old palmetto.

I saw 5 - 6 of these youngsters hanging around daddy bluebird, hoping for a free meal. Some were starting to hunt on their own. They spent a lot of time on the road, pecking at something. Don't know if it was insects they were seeking or bits of grit. I know they often ended up with dirty beaks.

or sall limits, either way

It was a huge surprise when I saw this bird land on the winter cover of the pool to wash up. It stayed there for 11 minutes, which allowed me to photograph it at length, a magical moment. Most of you will identify it easily, for others the answer in the following days.

It rained last night, but the sun was bright this morning. As I was looking for birds, I saw these lovely new blooms with big rain drops on it.

I re-edited this image this morning, enjoy!
