Duranta plants are a favorite of butterflies and bees. This one is growing in a tree form with beautiful cascading branches filled with blooms. Here a gulf fritillary is getting nectar and they love posing for the camera.
A quick fyi, responding to comments and visiting your pages is a challenge since my fingers developed issues and aren't working together like they should however I am following what you are up to.
Happy Monday!
During this drone flight I was looking for abstract river structures that I had also found elsewhere. On the return flight I then flew over this branch of the river, which inspired me less because of the structures than because of the colors.

Though the little cobalt bottles still decorate the shelves today, this beer only had 3 vintage releases; 1994, 1995, and 1997. Brewed with two row malted barley, water, Noble hops and yeast, along with maple syrup, it was then aged several months in oak whiskey barrels before being bottled. At the time it was considered the world's strongest beer, and a precursor of today's Extreme Beers.
From Madagascar, it was a gift-10mmx6mm Natural Ruby/Sapphire Corundum Hexagonal Crystal in sunlight. The red/pinkish colour comes from Chromium inclusion. Beautiful fluorescence under LW UV light.
Corundum grows in hexagonal and trigonal shapes
(Red Corundum is Ruby, every other colour blue, yellow etc. is Sapphire)In Asia pink is classed as Ruby, and in the west the defining line between Pink Sapphire and Red Ruby is a bit sketchy, as even the pink colour is caused by Chromium.
In nature, carbon atoms of the two-dimensional material graphene are arranged in a honeycomb point set.
The hexagon shape is all across nature, from Bee hives, giant's causeway to the north pole of Saturn, snowflakes, Dragonfly's eyes, and much more. We have approx 14kg of carbon in our bodies, carbon has a hexagonal shape.
Point and shoot on macro setting(got this camera at a thrift store for € 1.00. I like the Macro mode on this Canon A480.

Blue, like the midday sky
or the recurring feeling.
Blue, like the paint on the walls

Blue, like the blankets that help to hide
or the fears that always loom.
Blue, like the words that stay unspoken
or the questions that linger.
Blue, like the storms in the sky
or the incessant indecision…

The final photos from my trip. I will then be only 3 months behind BUT my last trip had enough photos to last many months!
I saw several of these at this location but this was my first photo at the small pond. I love the species and the photo so make no apologies for uploading another photo of one. A final reminder of the trip.

The land looked like sapphire and emeralds at the South Holston Dam area, but the sky was pretty dreary. I amped it up a bit, and added some blue to both the sky and river to see what a more fair day along the water in Bristol would be like. As expected, it is lovely. Even grey and gloomy, this place has a beauty that can't be quenched.

SAPPHIRE DRAGON RIDER
"In the Blue Mountains, high in the skies, she patrols and watches for events that could interfere in the serenity of the lands".
Riding her blue stone dragon, carved glaive in hand, she has no mercy for those who do not respect the rules of the lands.

This was photo was captured during my first backpacking trip ever. I really enjoy these backpacking trips because if you put in the effort you really start to break away from the crowds of tripods at a park and shoot location.
Although the sky conditions this morning weren't ideal for wide angle landscape photography, something about the color harmony resulted in one of my favorite photos from 2020.
I'm really looking forward to the summer and fall seasons where I can start to explore of the back-country.

The dramatic Sapphire Star by Dale Chihuly in its setting beside the Temple of Bellona at Kew. One of the larger sculptures, it measures 113 inches in diameter and 114 inches high.
The Temple of Bellona is a whitewashed stucco temple. The facade has a portico of two pairs of Doric columns with a metope frieze pediment and an oval dome behind. Inside is a room with an oval domed centre. On the walls garlands and medallions with the names and numbers of British and Hanovarian units connected with the Seven Years' War. It was built in 1760 by Sir William Chambers.
Dale Chihuly's 'Reflections on Nature' Exhibition is at Kew Royal Botanic Gardens until the 27th October.
