Intersting sandstone patterns along the White Rocks Loop Trail, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Nevada
This area of the Triassic coastline is made up of red sandstone and mudstone. It is easy to see why erosion occurs: just scratching a nail along the cliff removes the stone easily. Such a nice, warm, terracotta shade against the dull, foggy day.
A sandstone cave in Cheshire. I'm not at all sure that the splash of pink does anything to enhance this pic as it blows out some beautiful natural colours, so I posted a natural copy too
