Black Sand Beach is on Big Island in Hawaii. You can sea it on the road from Kona to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

The black sand is obviously the result of the volcanic activity on Big Island.

Dawn light catching the ripples and ridges in the sand on the dunes in Great Sand Dunes National Park.

i know everyone does it but hey i love the footsteps in the sand idea.

I am fascinated by the layers of traces piling up on top of each other, disappearing underneath and occasionally being retrieved again.

Panorama of ISS055 images of rocky hills and mountains and rivers of sand in the Sahara Desert.

The Western Desert, (Libyan Desert), of Egypt is a desert dwellers joy with miles of dunes, canyons, oases, mountainous plateaus, and valleys.

These beautiful mountains picture are on the edge of the great sand sea, near the Egypt and Libya border.

I have to admit, as beautiful as the sand dunes on top of the behemoth “Cerro Blanco” are, I struggled to find a good angle to photograph sunrise. I raced around looking for a position that included: weaving dunes, interesting sand patterns, the green bush sprouting in the sand, and badlands thousands of feet below. Running on sand was slow and there wasn’t much time to spare as the glow of sunrise started to fade. Fortunately, this great view with dramatic side-lighting presented itself with enough time to spare.

Taken at North Beach while I was doing some long exposures. Nothing special but I thought the sand kicking up around the gull was worth sharing.

Tomorrow is Throwback Thursday. This is where you take an image that's a couple months old or older and upload it. It's not intended to be one of your better shots but to experiment with a shot you might've passed over a few times. If you decide to participate, please tag your photo Throwback Thursday, send me a message or add me to the photo and I'll be sure to comment. If I get enough people interested, I will start a new group called.... drum roll please.......Throwback Thursday :)

Hope all is well and keep shooting my friends!
