"Anxiety is the rust of life, destroying its brightness and weakening its power. A childlike and abiding trust in Providence is its best preventive and remedy."
To mend or not to mend? That is the question, this much loved summer dress has got yet another tear in it, time for it to be pensioned off I think.......
Matthew 6:19 says, "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and steal." This cast iron pan has rust on the outside--of course, we could treat it, so it wouldn't, but then that wouldn't make for a good photo opp. Though I love this pan--and the aebleskivers Jim makes using it--it's not one of my most prized possessions. But I do wonder, where are my treasures? And would my actions actually match my answer?
Back of an old school bus.
Can't remember what adjustments I used on this to give it a high contrast / high key look, but I kind of like it, particularly since the sky was all washed out anyhow. And I love the reflected trees.

Jim (active metabolite) suggested I explore this rusted out car ... thanks!
I heard a bit more of the story from a fellow dog walker. Apparently it was a stolen car, dumped about six months ago in the bush. The council moved it to where it is now (still in the bush, but near a track it could be towed away from). About a week later, it was torched. It's still not been taken away. To me, it's become a bit of a feature on this particular walk, and I'd miss it!
Just a bit of old rusty chain and rope that I found hanging off one of the 'dozers on the beach at Hastings. I liked the contrasting colours and the texture.
Thanks for your time

A study in the beauty of decay. These photos of rust were taken on a day I learned that a family member had been diagnosed with cancer. I'm sure I departed from my usual practice of photographing beautiful landscapes in an effort to remind myself that you can find beauty even in decay if you look deeply enough. The subject is rusted corrugated aluminum sheets.

I've have a variety of Citroen CX parts soaking in a Molasses bath to remove rust. Yes, it does work and rather effectively. You need to use a feed grade Molasses, which is available at your "local" Feed Store. I mixed a ratio of 1 part Molasses to 3 or 4 parts hot water. Let the parts soak for about 2 weeks.
