Form and Description: This rich, red pseudosphere has a warm, firm and fleshy texture and the appearance of a "lettuce coral" -- do you agree? I chose the pseudosphere from Margaret Wertheim's book A Field Guide to Hyperbolic Space (p.71), but modified it slightly by starting with more stitches.
Materials: Dale of Norway "Tiur" sport weight, (60% Mohair / 40% Wool), 115m/50 gm skein; remnants of Filatura di Crosa "Saint Tropez" novelty trim (40% Cotton, 40% Viscose, !0% Rayon); US G/6/4mm crochet hook. For the body of the pseudosphere, I worked with 2 strands of Tiur held together, and for the edge, I worked with 1 strand of novelty yarn held with 1 strand of Tiur. I used 2 full skeins of Tiur and a partial skein of the novelty yarn.
Techniques/ Stitches: Single crochet. Join a crochet chain of 5 stitches into a ring. Increase every 3rd stitch for 15 rounds. On round16 (the trim round) increase every 5th stitch.
Dimensions: 7.5" Diameter (flat); 3.5" Height (upright)
