A rotting North American F-86L Sabre:
The Sabre is best known for its Korean War role where it was pitted against the Soviet MiG-15. Although developed in the late 1940s and outdated by the end of the 1950s, the Sabre proved adaptable and continued as a front line fighter in air forces until the last active front line examples were retired by the Bolivian Air Force in 1994.
When the Maine Central line between Quebec Junction and Waumbek Junction was abandoned in 1977, the telegraph poles that lined the roadbed became obsolete, and were likely removed along with the rails and ties. A few of them still remain in the woods to the side of the line though, such as this one that I spotted on a hike. Due to the dense tree cover, they can be hard to see. Some of the old bases still remain, but they often times look exactly like trees.

The color red is the color of fire and blood. Blood and fire can have both positive and negative connotations. The hate, the war the aggression and bloodshed are facing the power, the love, the warmth, the joy and the passion. Red has stimulating and invigorating effect on us.
